VinFast Patents Sporty Viper Electric Scooter In India; Could Rival Ola And Ather
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has patented its Viper electric scooter in India. The premium sporty EV scooter hints at the brand's interest in the Indian two-wheeler market, although there is no official confirmation regarding its launch yet.
VinFast is already selling EV cars in India with the VF6 and the VF7 SUVs. Now, they are looking to enter the EV two-wheeler space, a segment currently dominated by Indian brands. As one of the growing EV two-wheeler manufacturers, VinFast already has a strong presence across several Southeast Asian markets.

The company has also set up its manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, where it manufactures EV cars for the Indian market. Now, the patent filing of the VinFast Viper hints at the company's plans to expand into the electric scooter segment as well.
VinFast Viper Electric Scooter Patented
The VinFast Viper comes equipped with dual LFP battery packs, offering a claimed range of up to 156 km on a single charge. Its electric motor produces a peak power output of 3,000 W and enables a top speed of 70 km/h.
In terms of hardware, the scooter gets telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, and front disc brakes. Instead of a conventional mechanical key, the Viper features a smart key system, which can also help locate the vehicle in crowded parking spaces.

For modern buyers, the scooter offers an LED headlamp, a high-resolution TFT display, a spacious under-seat storage compartment, and a passenger footrest for added practicality. VinFast could introduce a more advanced Gen 2 version of this scooter with additional features and upgrades to better compete in India's highly competitive electric scooter segment.
Alongside the Viper, VinFast could also bring other models like the Evo and Feliz 2 to India. The EV two-wheeler market in India is heavily dominated by scooters, accounting for over 95 percent of the segment. With demand growing rapidly, VinFast appears to be eyeing strong potential in the country's expanding electric mobility space.
