VinFast Rasad Electric Maxi-Scooter Design Patented In India

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has filed a design patent for the Rasad electric maxi-scooter in India, months ahead of its global debut. Vinfast unveiled the Rasad in early 2026 as part of a broader overhaul of its electric two-wheeler range, alongside the Sadie and Saxil.

The filing comes soon after VinFast patented the Viper electric scooter and an electric motorcycle believed to be based on the Sulad concept, in India over the past few weeks. Together, the three filings suggest VinFast is lining up a wider two-wheeler portfolio for India than it had previously indicated.

VinFast has not officially revealed the Rasad's technical specifications. Vietnamese publications, including Vietnam News, report that the scooter will use a centrally mounted electric motor producing 7.1kW (9.52bhp) of peak power, enabling a claimed top speed of 100km/h. The same reports suggest a global launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The design patent for the VInfast Rasad shows a muscular, angular scooter built on an underbone chassis, with proportions similar to the Yamaha Aerox and the recently unveiled Honda ADV160. A large touring-style windscreen sits ahead of a polygonal headlamp housing finished with VinFast's signature LED daytime running lights. The Vinfast Rasad rides on 14-inch alloy wheels.

The Rasad gets a stepped seat with generous cushioning and width for both rider and pillion, flanked by angular side panels that carry through the scooter's sporty styling. A wide handlebar and a rectangular digital instrument cluster complete the cockpit, with a charging outlet and storage space expected up front.

Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, with disc brakes fitted at both ends. Chunky tyres round off the running gear, and a tyre hugger with a compact taillamp and standard turn indicators are visible at the back.

VinFast had earlier said it planned to enter India in 2026 with three models from its Vietnam lineup. The Viper scooter, the Sulad-based motorcycle and now the Rasad have all since been patented in the country, though a registered design does not by itself confirm a commercial launch.
