Vespa Officina 8 Launched At ₹1.34 Lakh - Celebrates Vespa’s Origin Story
Italian automaker Piaggio has launched the Vespa Officina 8 special-edition scooter in India. The new Vespa Officina 8 is a heritage-themed special edition that commemorates the experimental department within Piaggio's Pontedera facility where the earliest Vespa prototypes were conceived.
The Vespa Officina 8 will be retailed through select Vespa dealerships across India, with availability limited to specific outlets. Pricing for the Vespa Officina 8 special edition scooter starts at ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

The Officina 8 name traces its origins to a dedicated experimental workshop established in 1944 inside Piaggio's Pontedera plant in Italy. This unit operated separately from the main production line and was tasked with testing engineering concepts, refining designs and developing early prototypes that would eventually shape the Vespa brand's first production scooter.
Engineers, designers and mechanics worked exclusively within this section to evaluate new ideas before they entered series production. The work carried out by this team resulted in the patenting of the first Vespa scooter in 1946.

The Officina 8 edition reflects this history through a distinct cosmetic treatment. The scooter is finished in a matte metallic Blue Officina 8 paint scheme that is unique to this special edition. The colour is paired with exposed metallic rivets along with brass and aluminium highlights to create an industrial-themed appearance.
Beyond the special finish, the Officina 8 carries forward the familiar Vespa design language, including the round headlamp, flowing side panels and curved body lines that define the scooter's silhouette. The model also receives a ribbed seat, chosen to match the heritage theme and differentiate it from the standard range.

Mechanically, the Officina 8 remains aligned with Vespa's existing lineup in India. The Vespa Officina 8 will be available in both 125cc and 150cc variants, mirroring the engine options already offered across the brand's portfolio. No changes to either powertrain specifications have been announced for this special edition.
Vespa has supplemented the launch with a dedicated Officina 8 accessories and apparel range. Buyers can opt for a colour-matched top box, while every scooter is delivered with a welcome kit that includes a book detailing the history of the Officina workshop along with a matching half-face helmet.
