Vespa 946 Horse Limited-Edition Scooter Revealed To Celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year
The Vespa 946 Horse has been revealed globally as a limited-edition model under Vespa's Lunar Collection, marking the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar. This edition follows earlier themed releases such as the Vespa 946 Dragon and Vespa 946 Snake.
The Vespa 946 Horse is finished in a bay brown colour, a shade inspired by the natural tones of a horse's coat. The steel monocoque body uses a combination of matte and gloss finishes, with controlled contrast across panels to highlight the scooter's sculpted form.

Gold-toned detailing is used selectively across the body. A V-shaped monogram positioned beneath the seat is integrated into a horseshoe-inspired graphic, reinforcing the edition's thematic link without altering the base structure of the Vespa 946.
The Vespa 946 Horse features a leather saddle styled after equestrian tack, with matching leather elements on the handlebars and rear-view mirrors produced using traditional Italian manufacturing processes. These leather components are colour-matched to the scooter's exterior finish.
A set of dedicated accessories has been developed specifically for the Vespa 946 Horse. These include a rear-mounted leather bag made from the same saddle material and a clear windshield mounted on aluminium supports, designed to integrate visually with the scooter's bodywork.
A matching jet-style helmet has also been introduced alongside the Vespa 946 Horse. The helmet features a gold Vespa logo on the rear and follows the same colour and trim theme as the scooter. Availability of the helmet is limited and separate from the scooter.
The Vespa 946 Horse is mechanically based on the 150cc version of the standard Vespa 946. The 946 Horse edition retains the same engine, chassis and suspension layout as the regular 150cc Vespa 946 sold globally.
Power comes from a 149.5cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine equipped with electronic fuel injection. The engine produces around 12 bhp and 12.7 Nm of torque and is paired with a CVT automatic transmission using a centrifugal clutch for twist-and-go operation.
The Vespa 946 Horse is built around Vespa's steel monocoque chassis, integrating the body and frame into a single structure. Suspension hardware includes a single-sided front fork and a rear monoshock, while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. Wheel sizes, tyres and fuel tank capacity of around 8 litres remain unchanged from the standard 150cc Vespa 946.
Alongside the scooter, Vespa has launched the In Sella capsule, the third release under its Al Vento apparel collection. The range includes wool varsity jackets, knitwear, sweatshirts, T-shirts and a wool blanket, all carrying design references linked to the Horse edition.
The apparel collection introduces a Royal crest graphic, pairing a horse with a dachshund in a symmetrical layout. The items use navy blue as the primary colour, with gold embroidery and detailing consistent with the scooter's visual theme.
Pre-orders for the Vespa 946 Horse opened on January 26 through Vespa's official online platform and at the Vespa The Empty Space store in Milan, where the scooter is also displayed. The In Sella collection went on sale on the same date as the new Vespa 946 Horse.
