TVS Orbiter V1 Launched At ₹49,999 With BaaS - ₹862 Monthly Rental

Chennai-based two-wheeler giant TVS has launched the new Orbiter V1 electric scooter in India with an introductory price of Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price applies under a new battery subscription model, marking TVS's entry into the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) approach for electric two-wheelers.

Under the BaaS model, customers purchase the TVS Orbiter V1 without the battery and pay a subscription fee for battery usage. Buyers who prefer to own the battery outright can purchase the Orbiter V1 at Rs 84,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

TVS Orbiter V1 Launched

BaaS subscription plans for the TVS Orbiter V1 start at ₹862 per month and include an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000km, along with unlimited usage during the selected subscription period.

The Orbiter V1 is positioned as the most affordable electric scooter in TVS Motor's portfolio and aims to make electric mobility more accessible to urban commuters. The model sits below the company's iQube electric scooter range and its own Orbiter V2 sibling.

Powering the TVS Orbiter V1 is a 1.8kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a hub-mounted electric motor. The setup delivers a claimed IDC riding range of 86km on a single charge and a top speed of 68km/h.

The TVS Orbiter V1's battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 2 hours and 20 minutes using a standard charger. TVS also provides a standard warranty of three years or 50,000km on the battery pack.

In terms of features, the Orbiter V1 gets a digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration. The scooter also offers features such as navigation assist, geo-fencing, call and message alerts, anti-theft alarm and regenerative braking.

Other highlights include LED lighting, a long flat seat measuring 845mm, and a large front wheel aimed at improving stability during daily commuting. The scooter also offers around 34 litres of under-seat storage for practicality.

Speaking about the launch of the Orbiter V1, Gaurav Gupta, President - India 2W Business, TVS Motor Company said, "TVS Motor has built a strong and well-defined EV portfolio, and the launch of TVS Orbiter V1 further strengthens this lineup by introducing the most accessible entry point into our electric scooter range. Alongside this, the introduction of BaaS represents an important shift in customers' approach to EV ownership. By separating the vehicle price from the battery usage cost, we are enabling greater flexibility while providing customers a clear understanding of the overall cost of ownership."
