Triumph Bonneville T40 Lineup - Engine and Chassis
The Triumph Bonneville T40's liquid-cooled 350cc engine makes 29PS at 7,000rpm and 31.2Nm at 5,500rpm. Power goes through a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch, and fuelling is by Bosch injection with electronic throttle control.

The Triumph Bonneville T40 shares its basic architecture with the other 350cc Triumphs, but gets a revised cylinder head, smaller throttle bodies, dedicated camshafts and a new exhaust. A Bonneville-specific tune adds torque lower in the rev range, and gearing is taller than on its siblings.
The Triumph Bonneville T40's tubular steel frame has a new rear section to carry twin shock absorbers and a tubular steel swingarm. The subframe is welded to the main frame instead of bolted on.

Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm gaiter fork at the front and preload-adjustable twin shocks at the rear, each with 130mm of travel. Braking for the Triumph Bonneville T40 comes from a 310mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 255mm rear disc aided by lean-sensitive Cornering ABS.
The T40 rides on spoked aluminium rims that measure 18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear and come wrapped in tubed MRF tyres. Seat height is 790mm, or 770mm with the accessory low seat in black or brown. The T40 tips the scales at 195kg(wet), ground clearance is 165mm and the fuel tank holds 14.5 litres. A centre stand and upper engine protection bars are standard.

Triumph Bonneville T40 - Design & Features
The Triumph Bonneville T40 sports a teardrop fuel tank with rubber knee pads and the three-bar Triumph badge, a round LED headlight with a daytime running light signature, longer mudguards and a peashooter silencer. The cylinder head fins are machined, and the clutch and alternator covers are brushed aluminium.

Each Triumph Bonneville T40 is finished by hand, with hand-painted coach lining on the tank. The T40 comes in three two-tone schemes: Aegean Blue and Fusion White, Meriden Blue and Tangerine Orange, and New England White and Jet Black.
The Triumph Bonneville T40 also gets chrome mirrors and grab hoop, brushed aluminium heel guards and a brushed steel exhaust. The T40 Black is finished in Matt Pewter Grey and Matt Phantom Black, with gloss-black rims, steel spokes, powder-coated engine casings and blacked-out components.

Instrumentation on the Triumph Bonneville T40 comes in the form of a new 4-inch circular TFT display that has a Heritage mode that switches to an analogue-style layout. Navigation runs through the new Triumph Navigation App, with route planning, waypoints and GPX import, alongside phone call and music controls.Self-cancelling indicators, Emergency Deceleration Warning and a USB-C socket are also fitted.
There are five riding modes for the Triumph Bonneville T40: Road, Rain, Eco and two customisable ones, each adjusting throttle response, traction control and ABS. Cruise control and Cornering Traction Control are standard on the Triumph Bonneville T40 and T40 Black.

Service intervals for the Triumph Bonneville T40 are 16,000km or 12 months, whichever comes first. Accessories available for the bikes include low and comfort seats and classic panniers.
Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, Triumph Motorcycles, said: "The Bonneville is one of the most significant motorcycles in Triumph's history, so introducing a new model carrying that name comes with a responsibility to get it right. From the outset, our ambition for the T40 and T40 Black was not simply to create a smaller Bonneville, but to create a motorcycle that delivers the style, character and ownership experience riders expect from a genuine Bonneville. Bringing that experience to more riders is strategically important for Triumph, particularly as lower-capacity motorcycle categories continue to grow around the world.
Working closely with Bajaj, we challenged ourselves to retain the details and qualities that make a Bonneville special, from the proportions and finish to traditional touches such as hand-painted coach lining, while also introducing a level of technology and rider-focused innovation not previously seen in this category. The result is a motorcycle that stays true to the values that have defined the Bonneville for generations while opening the experience to even more riders."
