Anti-lock braking systems prevent wheel lock-up during sudden braking and improve stability under hard braking. However, the feature, which would surely be a big safety net for riders on our crazy roads, is currently not mandatory for all two-wheelers in the country.
And while ABS is compulsory for larger capacity two-wheelers, most scooters sold in the country miss out on the feature and make do with combi-braking systems. However, that seems to be changing with the arrival of more performance-oriented scooters on our roads. So let's take a look at the Top 5 most affordable scooters with ABS currently sold in India...

Suzuki Access 125
The Suzuki Access 125 offers ABS with two of its top-spec variants - Ride Connect ABS at ₹92,328, and Ride Connect TFT ABS at ₹98,378. It was the second 125cc scooter in the country to be offered with ABS, after another scooter that can be found a bit later in this article.
The Suzuki Access 125 scooter uses a 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 8.4PS and 10.2Nm of peak torque. Braking hardware on the ABS-equipped version of the Suzuki Access includes a front disc brake and a rear drum brake aided by a single-channel ABS setup. The Access 125's suspension setup uses telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm rear setup.
Other features on the Suzuki Access 125 include Bluetooth connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, an external fuel filler and under-seat storage.

TVS Ntorq 150
The TVS Ntorq 150 is the newest and most powerful member of its sporty Ntorq lineup. Prices for this new flagship Ntorq scooter start from ₹1.09 lakh (ex-showroom).
The TVS Ntorq 150 is powered by a 149.7cc air-cooled three-valve engine producing 13.2hp and 14.2Nm of peak torque that is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT. The braking system on the TVS Ntorq 150 uses a front disc brake with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock.
Other major features of the TVS Ntorq 150 include a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone notifications.

Aprilia SR 175
The Aprilia SR 175 offers the largest engine on this list and is priced at ₹1.26 lakh (ex-showroom). The Aprilia SR 175 replaced the SR 160 in the Italian marque's India lineup and it uses a 174.7cc single-cylinder engine producing 12.9hp and 14.1Nm of peak torque.
Braking hardware on the Aprilia SR 175 includes a front disc brake and rear drum brake aided by single-channel ABS. The scooter uses large 14-inch wheels at both ends. The SR 175 also features a TFT instrument display and LED lighting.

VLF Mobster 135
The second Italian on the list, the VLF Mobster 135 is priced at ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and is the only offering on this list to feature dual-channel ABS. The VLF Mobster 135, despite its name, uses a 125cc engine that pushes out 12.1hp and 11.7Nm of peak torque.
Braking hardware on the VLF Mobster 135 includes disc brakes at both ends - 230mm at the front and 220mm at the rear - aided by dual-channel ABS. The Italian scooter also features traction control and keyless ignition. Along with a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity.

Hero Xoom 160
The Hero Xoom 160 is priced at ₹1.37 lakh (ex-showroom). The Xoom 160 uses a 156cc liquid-cooled engine producing 14.6hp and 14Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful scooter on this list.
Braking hardware includes a front disc brake with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake.
For its suspension setup the Xoom 160 uses long-travel telescopic forks and twin rear shocks. The Hero Xoom 160 also features a tall windscreen, LED lighting and a digital instrument display.
