The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 has been launched as a simpler, more affordable alternative to the Himalayan 450. The adventure motorcycle skips some of its bigger sibling's premium equipment but keeps its focus on the fundamentals of a proper ADV.

Clean And Rugged Design

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 sports a tall stance, a large front wheel and a simple, rugged body that keeps the styling familiar rather than futuristic. This gives it a purposeful look that should appeal to riders who preferred the traditional ADV design of the older Himalayan 411.

Strong Engine, Brilliant Refinement

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 uses the same 443cc LS440 engine as the Scram 440, producing 25.4PS and 34Nm of torque, with peak torque arriving at 4,000rpm. Power goes to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox, and the low torque peak should mean fewer downshifts for quick overtakes.

Beyond the outright numbers, refinement is one of the engine's biggest strengths. It feels smooth and relaxed on the move while still offering enough torque for highway riding, touring and rough-road use.

No-Nonsense Features List

Royal Enfield has kept the Himalayan 440's equipment list simple and functional. It gets a semi-digital instrument console that shows essential information without added complexity, along with a Tripper navigation pod for turn-by-turn directions.

This is a clear step down from the Himalayan 450, which uses a full TFT display and offers a longer list of electronic features.

Go-Anywhere Capability

The Himalayan 440 retains hardware built for genuine off-road use, with 200mm of front suspension travel, 180mm at the rear and 220mm of ground clearance. It rides on a 21-inch front wheel with dual-purpose tyres and switchable dual-channel ABS.

This combination of long-travel suspension and a rugged chassis should let the motorcycle handle broken city roads, highways and trails with equal ease, staying true to the go-anywhere character the Himalayan name is known for.

Much More Affordable Than The Himalayan 450

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 undercuts the Himalayan 450 by around Rs 70,000, with prices starting at Rs 2,29,000. This makes it considerably easier to access for buyers who do not need the larger bike's extra performance or premium equipment.

Instead, the Himalayan 440 offers the core adventure motorcycle experience at a more accessible price point.
