Royal Enfield To Produce 20 Lakh Bikes by 2028 Amid Rising Global Demand
Royal Enfield is set to expand its manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand across both domestic and international markets. The company currently has an annual production capacity of around 14.6 lakh units and plans to scale this up to 20 lakh units per year as part of its long-term growth strategy and global expansion plans.
The Eicher Motors-owned brand remains one of India's leading premium motorcycle brands. Along with strong domestic sales, the brand is gaining increasing popularity in overseas markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and several Asian countries. Its retro-styled motorcycles continue to attract consumers.

Royal Enfield Expansion Plans and Investment
To support rising demand, the company will invest approximately ₹958 crore to expand its manufacturing facility at Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, located about 100 km from Chennai. The capacity expansion work is expected to begin soon and is targeted for completion by 2028.
This move will strengthen Royal Enfield's manufacturing ecosystem, improve component supply efficiency, and support future product launches - including the company's upcoming premium 750cc motorcycle segment, which could further boost export demand.

Record Sales in 2025
Royal Enfield recorded its best-ever annual sales in 2025, crossing the one million units milestone. Demand continues to grow steadily, particularly in international markets where customers value the classic styling, performance, and relatively affordable pricing of the Royal Enfield motorcycles.
Popular models such as the Classic 350, Hunter 350, and Himalayan 450 are witnessing consistent demand growth. Meanwhile, the brand's 650cc lineup, including the Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650, and Continental GT 650, remains especially popular in global markets.

Market Position & Future Plans
Despite increasing competition in the entry-level premium and middleweight motorcycle segments, Royal Enfield continues to lead the charts, largely due to its quality products, reliable engines, and competitive pricing.
Additionally, Royal Enfield is preparing to enter the electric motorcycle segment this year with its upcoming Flying Flea series bikes, such as the C6 and S6. These electric bikes are expected to target riders who seek EV motorcycles for daily commuting needs and also for mild off-road capability.
Verdict
The planned production expansion is expected to benefit both the company and its automotive ecosystem. Higher production capacity will help meet rising domestic demand, boost exports, and further strengthen Royal Enfield's global presence as it expands into new premium segments and emerging technologies, including electric mobility.
