Ola Electric Sales Drop: CEO Reveals Key Reasons Behind the Decline

Ola Electric has been witnessing a decline in sales over the past few quarters. Addressing the slowdown, CEO Bhavish Agarwal stated that the main factor impacting sales is related to service challenges rather than any issues with product quality.

Ola Electric Scooters CEO Responds to Poor Sales

Ola Electric had been India's top-selling EV two-wheeler brand for several years. However, since early 2025, its sales performance has dropped significantly, with competitors such as TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, and Hero Vida gaining ground in the electric scooter segment.

While the company dominated the EV market in 2024, 2025 has been more challenging, with Ola Electric slipping in the rankings and losing market share to competitors. Some users have reported technical issues with their scooters and delays in service resolution.

There have also been complaints about scooters remaining at service centres for extended periods without timely fixes. This has impacted customer confidence, leading many buyers to consider more established brands that offer stronger service support and reliability. TVS, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy and Hero Vida have become India's top-selling EV brands, overtaking Ola Electric.

Addressing these concerns, Bhavish Agarwal acknowledged the problem, stating: "We do have a service challenge which we are working through that has impacted brand trust, and hence sales are down in the last couple of quarters. We acknowledge that execution gaps impacted brand trust among prospective customers. However, this is a service scale issue and not a product quality issue."

He further assured customers that the company is actively working to improve service infrastructure and regain customer trust, although these improvements may take some time. Apart from electric scooters, Ola Electric is also expanding its product portfolio.

Ola Electric has also developed its own battery cell, branded as the Bharat Battery, reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. Alongside its electric scooters, the company has introduced an electric motorcycle lineup, including the Roadster series. There are also plans to launch more premium EV models in the near future as part of its long-term growth strategy.
