KTM RC 390 Set For Major Upgrade – Twin-Cylinder Engine & New Platform!
KTM's next-generation RC 390 is likely to feature a twin-cylinder engine and is expected to arrive by 2027. This update was reportedly confirmed during the finale of Season 3 of the KTM Cup. The New RC will be distinct with the current generation RC390.
KTM To Bring Twin Cylinder Based RC 390
Bajaj-owned Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM is one of the leading brands in the performance and sports segment. Its Duke, RC, and Adventure series are highly popular in the Indian market. A major share of its success comes from the lower displacement segment, ranging from 160cc to 390cc models.

Recently, during Season 3 of the KTM Cup, it was confirmed that the RC 390 is long overdue for a major update, and the next-generation model is expected to move to a twin-cylinder platform. This will be a global update, bringing several new components and upgrades that could make it one of the most advanced motorcycles in the segment. There have already been speculations that KTM is developing a 500cc twin-cylinder platform to eventually replace the existing 390 lineup.
If this turns out to be true, the next-generation RC could be based on this new 500cc twin-cylinder platform, which may also be shared with the Duke, RC, and Adventure series. Currently, the RC 390 still uses the older 373cc engine, while the newer Duke and Adventure models have already transitioned to the updated 399cc platform.

New 350cc Bikes in April 2026
KTM is also preparing to introduce a new 350cc platform, which is expected to launch soon. This move comes in response to India's GST 2.0 regulations, where motorcycles above 350cc fall under a higher 40% tax bracket. To adapt to this, manufacturers like Bajaj, Triumph, and KTM are working on new 350cc motorcycles derived from their existing 400cc platforms, with slight differences in power output.
If the new twin-cylinder platform is introduced, it will clearly differentiate future models from the current single-cylinder lineup. We can also expect the next-generation RC to feature aerodynamic winglets at the front and rear, inspired by MotoGP machines.
