KTM RC 160: Top 5 Defining Features Explained
KTM has launched the RC 160, its most affordable supersport motorcycle in India. This 160cc motorcycle rivals the mighty Yamaha R15, which has long been the segment leader. Priced at 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the RC 160 offers some of the best features in its segment, making it a cost-worthy and value-for-money motorcycle. It is the best choice for beginners looking to enter the sports segment, thanks to its strong riding dynamics and power delivery. Here are the top five defining features of the RC 160.
KTM RC 160 Top Features & Technology
High-Riding Dynamics
KTM is a competitor in MotoGP, which is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. Their RC bikes and engines are mostly inspired by or derived from their MotoGP experience. Hence, buying a KTM RC 160 offers excellent riding dynamics and racing performance. Many of its features are borrowed from its more premium sibling, the RC 200, and hence, the riding, handling, and control are top-notch.

Premium Components
Despite being a smaller motorcycle, the RC 160 is built on the same lightweight trellis frame as the RC 200. Additionally, it equips a WP suspension setup that offers premium ride quality and braking performance. Even at high speeds, the ride quality, stability, and stopping power are never compromised, giving riders more confidence and a thrilling experience.
Easier Riding and Handling
The RC 160 provides some class-leading technology features such as dual-channel ABS with Supermoto mode, which allows riders to disable ABS on the rear wheel - a feature mostly limited to high-end motorcycles. The 6-speed gearbox is paired with an assist and slipper clutch, which provides a lighter clutch feel, making the bike easier to ride and control during aggressive upshifts and downshifts. The chassis is also very lightweight, making daily riding effortless.

Superior Technology
The bike features a 5-inch LCD with Bluetooth connectivity, which is a downgrade compared to the Duke 160 that equips a TFT console. However, the LCD console features turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and music controls. These are essential features for daily riders, but we hope to see a high-end TFT console on the motorcycle very soon.
Aggressive Engine Performance
The 164.2cc single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine produces enough power to tackle the streets. The bike delivers aggressive performance and an engaging riding experience by producing 19 PS of power and 15.5 Nm of torque. The rev-happy motor also allows riders to perform aggressive upshifts and downshifts while reaching higher RPM ranges.
