Kawasaki Versys 900 Sport Tourer Teased Ahead Of Reveal
The Kawasaki Versys 900 has been teased again ahead of its global unveil on October 13, and this time the clip shows the sport tourer itself. Based on the Z900 naked, the Kawasaki Versys 900 gets a Versys 650-style quarter fairing, a decently sized windscreen and a rack with panniers and a top box. An India launch is expected in 2027.
Kawasaki Versys 900 - Design and Ergonomics
Up front, the LED headlight is closer to the Z900 and KLE500 than to the larger Versys models. Additional LED projector lamps sit below the main units. The Kawasaki Versys 900rides on 17-inch wheels with radial front calipers, and its suspension looks to have longer travel than the Z900's. A remote preload adjuster is expected, as on the Versys 650 and Versys 1100.
Kawasaki is expected to have reinforced the Z900's frame or built a new one for the extra seat space and luggage. The fuel tank should hold around 20 litres. Weight should land between the 220kg Versys 650 and the 257kg Versys 1100. The Z900 weighs 212kg. The riding position is upright, much like the Versys 650 and Versys 1100. The seat looks generously sized and well padded for both rider and pillion.

Kawasaki Versys 900 - Engine and Electronics
The 948cc, liquid-cooled inline-four from the Z900 is expected to be carried over to the Kawasaki Versys 900 along with the six-speed gearbox. In the Z900, it makes 125hp at 9,500rpm and 98.6Nm at 7,700rpm.
The Kawasaki Versys 900 should get a new tune and different gearing to suit touring duty. The 5-inch TFT display and switchgear are also expected to come from the Z900. The electronics should match the Z900's, with power modes, riding modes, cruise control, traction control, a bidirectional quickshifter and dual-channel ABS. IMU-assisted rider aids are also likely to carry over.
Kawasaki Versys 900 - India Launch and Expected Price
The Kawasaki Versys 900 is likely to reach India after its global reveal, with the launch expected in 2027. The Z900 currently costs Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Versys 900 should be priced above it.
The Versys 1100 costs Rs 13.89 lakh, which is Rs 1.10 lakh more than the Z1100 at Rs 12.79 lakh. The sport tourer is expected to rival the Triumph Tiger 900 GT, Tiger Sport 800, Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, BMW F 900 XR and Ducati Multistrada V2.
