Honda WN7 Design Patented In India - First Electric Motorcycle Launch?

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has patented the Honda WN7 design in India, hinting at the company's plans to introduce its first premium electric motorcycle in the country. The futuristic concept was originally showcased at EICMA 2025 and represents Honda's vision for a high-performance electric bike.

The electric motorcycle segment in India is still relatively small compared to electric scooters, with most sales currently concentrated in the commuter category. However, interest in premium electric motorcycles is growing rapidly thanks to models such as the Ultraviolette F77, Ola Roadster and Oben Rorr.

Honda is already present in India's EV market with scooters like the Honda Activa e: and Honda QC1. With these products establishing Honda's presence in electric mobility, the company now appears to be evaluating a premium electric motorcycle for enthusiasts.

The Honda WN7 features a sharp and futuristic streetfighter-inspired design with sleek body panels, aggressive styling and a full LED lighting system. The motorcycle is expected to appeal to riders looking for a sporty and modern electric two-wheeler.

Battery and Range

Powering the WN7 is a liquid-cooled electric motor producing around 50 kW, equivalent to approximately 67 bhp. It is paired with a 9.3 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of up to 140 km on a single charge. The motorcycle also supports fast charging and is expected to reach a top speed of around 130 km/h.

Features

The WN7 is likely to offer several advanced technologies, including IMU-assisted cornering ABS, multiple riding modes (Standard, Sport, Rain and Economy), regenerative braking, a 5-inch TFT display, selectable speed limit assist and both forward and reverse modes.

Premium hardware includes a 43 mm Showa upside-down front fork, a rear monoshock suspension and disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. These components are designed to deliver sharp handling and a dynamic riding experience.

If launched in India, the Honda WN7 could become one of the most advanced and performance-oriented electric motorcycles in the market, significantly strengthening Honda's position in the growing premium EV segment.
