Hero Splendor Pro Classic Patent Filed In India; Iconic Retro Bike Could Return Soon

Hero MotoCorp has patented the Splendor Pro Classic in India, suggesting that the retro-inspired commuter bike may be making a comeback. The model, first introduced in 2014, is expected to return with fresh updates and a more modern package.

Hero Splendor Pro Classic Patent Filed

Hero had launched the Splendor Pro Classic in 2014, but discontinued it in 2018 following stricter emission norms. The newly surfaced patent design now hints that the company may be preparing to revive the motorcycle for the Indian market. It also closely resembles the Hero Hunter 150, a retro-styled commuter motorcycle currently sold by Hero MotoCorp in select African markets.

One of the biggest visible updates is likely to be the inclusion of a round LED headlamp, along with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres for improved practicality. The patent design also retains its signature low-slung stance, single-seat setup, and retro cafe racer silhouette.

At the front, the motorcycle features a dual-pod instrument cluster, which could be a fresh console for the wider Hero Splendor lineup. Hero is expected to retain the familiar 97.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine producing 8.2bhp and 8Nm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox.

The company may also introduce a 125cc variant of the motorcycle to target buyers looking for more performance. Hero may also explore flex-fuel compatibility, considering its growing focus on alternative fuel technology.

The Hero Splendor remains one of India's most iconic commuter motorcycles, and a retro-styled version could attract buyers looking for classic design at an affordable price. If launched, the Splendor Pro Classic could be positioned between the Splendor Plus and Xtec variants.

The model could also debut in exclusive paint schemes inspired by the original Splendor motorcycles from the 1990s. With retro-styled motorcycles gaining popularity in India, the return of the Splendor Pro Classic could give Hero MotoCorp a unique edge in the entry-level segment. More importantly, reviving the Classic nameplate under the Splendor brand would further strengthen the motorcycle's long-standing legacy in the Indian market.
