Hero MotoCorp To Unveil India’s First 100% Ethanol Powered Motorcycle
Hero MotoCorp is set to unveil India's first E100 ethanol-capable motorcycle on June 3, 2026. This means the upcoming motorcycle will be capable of running entirely on 100 percent ethanol without requiring conventional petrol, marking a major step toward alternative fuel mobility in India.

India is actively pushing for greener mobility solutions, and as part of this strategy, the government has been encouraging two-wheeler and four-wheeler manufacturers to develop more ethanol-compatible vehicles.

The introduction of fully ethanol-powered vehicles is expected to reduce pollution levels while also helping the country lower its dependence on imported crude oil. India remains one of the world's largest crude oil importers, and recent geopolitical tensions in West Asia have once again highlighted the country's vulnerability to rising fuel import costs and supply uncertainties.
By increasing ethanol usage and blending it with petrol, India aims to improve its energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports. Since ethanol can be produced locally using agricultural resources, it also supports domestic fuel production and strengthens the rural economy.
The government believes that expanding ethanol production could directly benefit Indian farmers by increasing demand for crops used in ethanol manufacturing. Not just India, several major global markets including the United States and Brazil have already been aggressively promoting ethanol-blended fuels to reduce dependence on crude oil imports.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki also confirmed plans to introduce an E100-compatible vehicle on World Environment Day. Now, Hero MotoCorp, which is currently the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is preparing to launch its own 100 percent ethanol-capable motorcycle on June 3, 2026.
Production Ready Motorcycle

While several manufacturers have previously showcased ethanol-powered motorcycles as concept models, Hero MotoCorp is expected to introduce this motorcycle as a proper production-ready vehicle, making it significantly more important for the Indian market.
Reports suggest that the fully flex-fuel-compatible motorcycles could be based on the Hero HF Deluxe and the Hero Splendor platform. Authorities have reportedly already approved these motorcycles, although it is still unclear which specific model will officially debut on June 3.
India is currently exploring multiple alternative fuel technologies as part of its long-term mobility strategy. Alongside EVs and hybrid vehicles, the government is also planning to expand the ethanol blending programme further with E27 fuel adoption in the future, which could further reduce crude oil dependency across the country.
