Ducati Enters The Enduro Segment With The Street-Legal Desmo 450 EDS

Ducati has unveiled the street-legal Desmo 450 EDS, an enduro motorcycle based on the Desmo 450 MX motocross bike. With this launch, the Italian manufacturer has officially entered the enduro segment, targeting enthusiasts who enjoy challenging off-road adventures.

The Ducati Desmo 450 EDS has been introduced in select European markets, including the UK. Designed for rugged terrain, the motorcycle is built to tackle mountain trails, rocky climbs, gravel roads, and demanding off-road routes with ease.

Based on the Desmo 450 MX, the new EDS retains a compact and lightweight construction that enhances agility, rider control, and overall confidence in difficult riding conditions. The motorcycle is built around a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame engineered to provide excellent balance and handling.

Suspension duties are handled by enduro-specific Showa components, including a 49mm front fork offering 310mm of travel and a rear monoshock with 301mm of travel. Braking performance comes from a Brembo setup featuring a 260mm Galfer front disc and a 240mm rear disc, ensuring strong stopping power and precise control across varied terrain.

Powerful Desmodromic Engine

Powering the Desmo 450 EDS is a 449.6cc liquid-cooled Desmodromic DOHC single-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. Weighing just 104kg, the motorcycle produces 63.5hp and 53.5Nm of torque, resulting in an impressive power-to-weight ratio that benefits both performance and maneuverability.

Other Features

The enduro machine also comes packed with technology, including a full LED lighting system, traction control, launch control, four engine maps, engine brake control, a Wi-Fi module, Ducati X-Link app connectivity, and an LCD instrument cluster with two power modes. It also features an O-ring chain similar to the one used by Ducati's factory MXGP racing team.

Ducati currently sells the Desmo 450 MX in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 17.24 lakh. Given Ducati's growing focus on off-road motorcycles, the road-legal Desmo 450 EDS could eventually make its way to the Indian market as the company expands its motocross and enduro lineup.
