BMW F 450 GS Launch Expectations – Lightweight 420cc Twin To Rival Himalayan 450
BMW is all set to launch the BMW F 450 GS on April 23, targeting the competitive mid-size adventure segment. Pre-bookings for the motorcycle are already open, while official pricing will be announced at launch.
BMW F 450 GS Launch Expectations
The mid-size adventure motorcycle segment is set to welcome a new player with the launch of the BMW F 450 GS. This locally manufactured model will also be sold globally, including in markets like Europe and North America. Here's what to expect from this upcoming motorcycle.

Parallel Twin Cylinder Engine
The F 450 GS will be powered by a new 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and the top variant is expected to feature a quick-shifter.
This engine has been co-developed with TVS Motor Company and will be manufactured at its Hosur plant. This local production is likely to ensure strong service support and better availability of spare parts.

Lightweight Chassis
Despite competing in the mid-size adventure segment, the F 450 GS is built on a lightweight chassis, enhancing agility and handling. It weighs just 178 kg, which should improve off-road capability and maneuverability.
It also features adjustable seat options, with a standard seat height of 845 mm. A 14-litre fuel tank is expected to offer a decent riding range. Overall, the motorcycle appears to be designed with a strong focus on rider engagement and versatility.
Rider-Focused Technologies
The F 450 GS comes equipped with several advanced features, including a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity. It offers multiple riding modes such as Rain, Road, and Enduro, along with navigation, call alerts, and music controls.
Premium Hardware
The motorcycle is expected to be offered in multiple variants, including Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy editions. It also gets off-road-focused hardware such as Enduro Pro mode, adjustable suspension, 19/17-inch wheels, USD front forks, a rear mono-shock, and 310/240 mm disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.

Pricing Expectations
The BMW F 450 GS is expected to be priced between ₹4.5 lakh and ₹5 lakh (ex-showroom). With local manufacturing, BMW is likely aiming for competitive pricing to attract more buyers.
This new model will effectively replace the entry-level GS lineup, especially after the discontinuation of the 310cc variant. It will compete directly with models like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure.
