BMW F 450 RR Teased - To Be Revealed On October 15
BMW Motorrad has teased its next 450 motorcycle, expected to be called the BMW F 450 RR, ahead of a global reveal on October 15. The BMW F 450 RR sportbike will be the third motorcycle on BMW's 420cc twin-cylinder platform after the F 450 GS and the F 450 R. The teaser image shows a sportbike silhouette with fairing-mounted winglets and side-positioned DRLs.
The F 450 R streetfighter was revealed on October 1, 11 months after the F 450 GS made its debut in Europe. That GS reached India in April this year in three variants, against four on offer internationally. BMW has listed four variants for the F 450 R as well, with no prices or India launch timeline announced yet.
The F 450 R shares most of its components with the GS and weighs 3kg less. Its 420cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin makes 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm, unchanged from the GS. It is not yet known whether BMW will optimise power and torque delivery for the sportier F 450 RR.
BMW F 450 RR Teased - Design and Features
The styling of the BMW F 450 RR appears to draw from the next-generation S 1000 RR, which was spotted testing at the Nurburgring earlier this year. The winglets echo the F 450 R, which took its own cues from the S 1000 R.
The teaser also shows wheel-mounted disc brakes, as on the F 450 R, and much of the underpinnings are expected to carry over, including 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. The F 450 RR could also get the same TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres.
The bike could also get the F 450 R's 6.5-inch TFT console with multiple riding modes, traction control and a quickshifter. Like the F 450 R, the sportbike could come in multiple variants with different feature sets, with the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) and adjustable suspension likely reserved for the higher variants.
Once it reaches India, the BMW F 450 RR will take on the Aprilia Tuono 457 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500.
