BMW F 450 R Revealed - G 310 R's Replacement
German bikemaker BMW Motorrad has revealed the F 450 R, a new street-naked motorcycle built on the same 450 platform as the F 450 GS. The naked bike effectively replaces the discontinued G 310 R as the brand's entry point into the Roadster line-up.
The BMW F 450 R borrows its engine and underpinnings from the GS but swaps the adventure styling for a more aggressive, streetfighter-inspired design drawn from the S1000 R. BMW has confirmed four variants for global markets, with an India launch expected to follow in the coming months.

BMW F 450 R - Engine and Chassis
The BMW F 450 R's 420cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin produces 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm, identical to the F 450 GS, though BMW says the tune has been adjusted for road use. Drive goes through a six-speed gearbox, with the Easy Ride Clutch offered as part of the range-topping Innovation package.

Chassis hardware carries over from the GS to the BMW F 450 R as well, built around a tubular steel frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm KYB upside-down fork and a KYB monoshock, with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres. A 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper and a 240mm rear disc, both with dual-channel ABS, handle braking.
At 175kg, the F 450 R weighs 3kg less than the GS. Seat height stands at 790mm as standard, with a 775mm low seat and an 810mm high seat available as accessories.

BMW F 450 R - Variants and Features
A 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and music control comes as standard across the range, along with heated grips. BMW will offer the F 450 R in four variants: Base, Exclusive, M Sport and M Sport with Innovation Package.

| Variant | Additional Equipment |
|---|---|
| Base | Cosmic Black paint, standard feature set |
| Exclusive | Bidirectional quickshifter, Sport suspension with adjustable rebound and compression damping |
| M Sport | Configurable Dynamic Pro ride mode, exclusive TFT layout with traction control, braking force, lean angle and lap timer data |
| M Sport with Innovation Package | Easy Ride Clutch system |

BMW has not confirmed India pricing or a launch timeline for the F 450 R. The F 450 GS is priced from Rs 4.95 lakh, and the F 450 R is expected to slot below it when it arrives in the country, likely in 2027.
