Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Now On Sale With A 349cc Engine - Price Still The Same - Glitch or

Bajaj has been systematically working through its 400cc portfolio to comply with India's new GST 2.0 regulations, and the Pulsar NS400Z is now the final piece of that puzzle. As per information listed on Bajaj's official website, the flagship Pulsar has made the switch from a 373cc engine to a smaller 349cc unit.

The KTM 390 Duke, 390 Adventure, and the Dominar 400 had already undergone the same transition earlier, and the NS400Z has now followed suit. Also, having completed the switch to the a new sub-350cc engine.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z: Same Engine Family As The Dominar 400

The Pulsar NS400Z now runs a 349.13cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine - the same basic unit that powers the Dominar 400. Output figures stand at 40.6hp and 33.2Nm of torque. To put that in context, the outgoing 373cc version made 43hp in its top Sport riding mode and 35Nm of torque, which means this new engine is down by 2.4hp and 1.8Nm, compared to its predecessor.

It's not just the numbers that have shifted - so has where the power arrives. Peak power now comes in at 9,000rpm, which is 200rpm higher than before, while peak torque arrives at 7,500rpm, a full 1,000rpm later than the old motor. This suggests the 349cc engine will have a slightly more rev-happy character, whereas the 373cc unit was known for its broader spread of torque.

The displacement reduction has been achieved by shortening the engine's stroke from 60mm to 56.1mm. The bore, however, remains unchanged at 89mm - making it mechanically identical in that regard to the Dominar 400's 350cc setup.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z: No Other Changes

If you're hoping to spot a 349cc NS400Z on the road, you won't be able to tell it apart from the old one. Bajaj has kept everything else the same - the bodywork, instrument cluster, riding modes, hardware, and feature set all appear to carry over unchanged from the 373cc model. This is the same approach Bajaj took with its downsized KTM and Triumph models, where only the engine specs changed.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z - Pricing

At the time of writing, the Bajaj website continues to list the Pulsar NS400Z at Rs 1,93,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), unchanged from its pre-GST 2.0 pricing. Whether a price revision is on the cards is something we'll have to wait and watch.

That said, the Dominar 400 precedent is encouraging - when that bike made the same 373cc-to-349cc switch, it came with a significant Rs 37,000 price reduction. If the NS400Z follows a similar pattern, it could get noticeably more accessible. We will update this story as and when Bajaj officially announces a revised price for the 349cc Pulsar NS400Z.
