Meet KTM's New Boss: Bajaj Mobility AG
Pierer Mobility AG has been officially renamed Bajaj Mobility AG after the completion of Bajaj Auto's takeover of KTM AG, positioning the Indian manufacturer as the majority owner and main decision-maker of the global motorcycle group.
The name change came into effect on January 13, 2026, following the finalisation of the acquisition process late last year through Bajaj Auto's wholly owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIH BV). Bajaj now holds a 74.9 per cent stake in KTM AG, giving it a controlling interest over the Austrian motorcycle maker and its affiliated brands under the new group structure.

Alongside the renaming, Bajaj Mobility AG has unveiled a new corporate logo to reflect its revised identity. Despite the change in name, KTM's headquarters will remain in Mattighofen, Austria, and the company will continue to operate from its longstanding base there.
Bajaj Mobility AG will serve as the holding company for the KTM group's core motorcycle brands - KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and GasGas - bringing them together under a singular corporate structure.

The transition to Bajaj Mobility AG marks a strategic milestone in Bajaj Auto's long-running association with KTM, which dates back to the Indian company's initial investment in 2007. Over nearly two decades, Bajaj gradually increased its influence, culminating in the full takeover that underpins the recent renaming. Under the new structure, the company is expected to use Bajaj's global manufacturing expertise and financial resources to drive future growth and operational stability.
The renaming also comes against a backdrop of restructuring within KTM prior to and following the takeover. In efforts to streamline operations and address financial pressures, KTM initiated cost-cutting measures, including workforce reductions affecting around 500 employees.
As of December 31, 2025, KTM AG reported a total workforce of 3,794 employees, down from previous levels. These moves were part of broader measures to simplify the company's internal structure and focus on key motorcycle brands.
"This reduction in positions is a difficult but necessary decision to lower our costs, slim down structures, and thereby place the company on a stable footing for the long term," said KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister. "We are reducing complexity across all areas-for example in our model range, in IT, and also in the organization of our departments, particularly by removing one management layer."
Under the Bajaj Mobility AG umbrella, KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas will operate with a clearer management focus on their core motorcycle businesses. KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister has noted that restructuring and strategic refocusing are intended to stabilise operations and improve efficiency after a period of rising costs and declining sales.
The company has also exited non-core ventures, including the sale of the Felt bicycle brand, discontinuation of the X-Bow car project, and the ending of certain distribution partnerships.
Bajaj Mobility AG's formation signals a new phase in the global two-wheeler landscape, with Bajaj Auto now positioned as the controlling stakeholder. While the brands under the group will continue to operate under their established names, the reshaped corporate identity reflects Bajaj's expanded role in steering strategy and long-term growth across international markets.
