Bajaj To Launch New Chetak EV scooter This January 2026
Bajaj Auto is one of the leading manufacturers in India's electric two-wheeler segment. The brand is now planning to launch a new Chetak EV scooter this month, which is expected to be a higher-spec model in the lineup. Currently, Bajaj holds around 21% market share in the electric two-wheeler segment, trailing behind its biggest rival, TVS Motor Company.
New Bajaj Chetak EV Incoming
According to a report by Autocar India, the Pune-based manufacturer is expected to launch the new electric scooter on January 14, 2026. There is also speculation that the upcoming Chetak could receive a refreshed design, featuring a newly designed taillight with a horizontal LED bar and integrated indicators on both ends, giving the scooter a more premium appearance.

Bajaj has not revealed any details about the new Chetak. However, it is expected to be an upgraded version of the existing lineup, offering a refreshed design, updated technology features, and a larger battery pack to match its rivals.
Currently, the Chetak is offered with two battery pack options - 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh. In comparison, rivals such as Ola Electric and TVS offer larger battery packs of up to 5 kWh in their top-end models. As a result, a Chetak EV with a larger battery and higher range has become necessary, along with a refreshed design and updated technology.

The Chetak range achieved an impressive sales performance last year with more than 2.5 Lakh Units. The brand even managed to overtake TVS to emerge as the top-selling electric two-wheeler in November 2025. However, the Hosur-based brand made a strong comeback and finished the year on a high with its December 2025 sales figures.
Bajaj is also facing stiff competition from startup manufacturers such as Ather Energy. Ather's Rizta family scooter has been gaining popularity among family buyers. As a result, Bajaj may introduce a new model targeting family-oriented customers, focusing on practical features, a higher battery range, and modern technology.
Currently, the Bajaj Chetak is priced from 99,500 (ex-showroom), while the top-end Chetak 3501 variant is priced at 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom). If Bajaj introduces a significantly larger battery pack with the upcoming model, it could become a flagship Chetak variant, likely priced higher than the existing lineup.
