Ather Rizta and 450 Get Smaller Battery Packs - LFP Cells For Rizta

Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Ather Energy has revised the battery packs on the Rizta and 450 electric scooter series, cutting cell capacity across most variants. The Rizta now gets a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry option alongside its existing Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) cells, a first for the model. Despite the smaller packs, claimed range figures stay unchanged or improve, and prices are untouched.

The 450 series continues exclusively with NMC cells, since its more powerful motor places greater demand on the battery. Both scooters also gain a more powerful 900W portable charger on their larger-pack variants, cutting the 0-80 percent charging time significantly.

Ather Rizta & 450 Battery Updates

The Ather Rizta earlier shipped with a 2.9kWh NMC pack on the smaller variant and a 3.7kWh NMC pack on the bigger one. Ather has now revised these to 2.7kWh and 3.5kWh respectively.

The smaller pack is now offered in either 2.7kWh LFP or 2.9kWh NMC chemistry, with supply deciding which cell type a buyer receives. Claimed IDC range stays at 123km either way, while the bigger pack's range rises from 159km to 161km.

Ather 450 Series Battery Updates

The 450 series retains NMC chemistry across both battery options. The bigger pack drops from 3.7kWh to 3.5kWh, though claimed IDC range remains unchanged at 161km.

The smaller 2.9kWh pack carries over unchanged. Claimed range also stays the same, at 126km for the 450X and 122km for the 450S.

The larger-pack variants of both the Rizta and 450 series now come with a 900W portable charger, replacing the earlier 700W unit. Ather claims this cuts the 0-80 percent fast charging time to 3 hours 12 minutes, down from 4 hours 30 minutes.

Performance, features and underpinnings remain unchanged across both series. Battery warranty and prices for the Ather Rizta and 450 Series of scooters are also unaffected by the revised pack sizes and chemistry.
