Ather Fast Charger Network Expands To 5,000+ Points Across India

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has expanded access to its fast-charging ecosystem, with Ather riders now able to use more than 5,000 public two-wheeler fast chargers across India. The chargers are equipped with the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS) connector and are spread across 395+ cities nationwide.

Of the total charging points available, 3,675+ fast chargers are operated directly by Ather Energy, forming what the company states is the largest two-wheeler fast-charging network in India. In addition, 1,400+ fast chargers are accessible through partner networks that also support the LECCS standard.

The expanded charging network covers major metropolitan cities, tier-2 and tier-3 cities, as well as intercity corridors, aimed at supporting both daily commuting and longer-distance travel. Key metros, including Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, each now host more than 100 LECCS fast chargers, with Bengaluru alone accounting for over 240 chargers.

At a state level, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Gujarat currently have the highest concentration of public fast chargers within the Ather ecosystem. Beyond large cities, charging availability has also expanded into smaller urban centres. Cities such as Nashik, Malappuram and Indore now feature more than 45 public fast chargers, while Kozhikode and Coimbatore each have over 65 fast chargers available for riders.

Speaking on the announcement, Ravneet Singh Phokela, CBO, Ather Energy, said "Charging infrastructure is a critical enabler of EV adoption, and as we continue to grow, expanding this network remains a key focus for us. Over the last seven years, we've invested steadily in building charging not just across cities and towns, but increasingly along highways and intercity corridors, so riders can plan longer journeys with confidence. With access to over 5,000 fast chargers today, Ather owners can ride knowing they can easily top up wherever they go, whether it's a daily commute or an intercity trip. In addition to expanding the network, we've also continued to improve the charging experience itself, most recently with the launch of a new fast charger. This is another step towards making the ownership experience more seamless, predictable, and convenient."

Ather has also extended its LECCS fast-charging footprint beyond India, with 30+ fast chargers operational across Nepal and Sri Lanka, supporting cross-border expansion of its charging platform.
The LECCS connector was designed and developed by Ather specifically for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

In 2021, Ather opened the intellectual property for the connector to enable interoperability across the industry. The connector later received Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) approval, and was published as Indian Standard IS17017 (Part 2/Sec 7):2023 and IS17017 Part 31:2024.

The LECCS standard has since been adopted by multiple OEMs, including Hero Vida and Matter, as well as charge-point operators such as Bolt.Earth, Kazam and EVamp, enabling broader interoperability across public charging infrastructure.

Ather Grid chargers are also integrated with Google Maps, allowing riders to locate compatible fast chargers, navigate to them and plan charging stops more easily.
