Ather EL Platform To Expand Into Family, Maxi And Sporty Electric Scooter Segments
Ather Energy's upcoming EL platform scooters will support multiple categories, including family, maxi, and sporty electric scooters. The new platform is expected to power a new range of affordable electric scooters across multiple segments.

Ather Energy is one of the most popular EV startups based in Bengaluru. Over the years, the brand has gained a significant share of India's growing electric scooter market and is now looking to expand into new segments.
The EL concept was unveiled last year, and the production version has been spotted testing in multiple cities. It is expected to launch during the 2026 festive season for mass-market consumers. The platform can underpin multiple scooter types multiple scooter types, including family, maxi, and sporty variants.

The chassis, powertrain, and electrical architecture will be completely new, supporting several advanced features such as an electronic braking system, a charge controller, and an updated instrument cluster.
The EL platform will also support the latest AtherStack software, including features such as crash alerts, pothole alerts, a TFT instrument cluster, theft protection, Park Safe, Lock Safe, AI-based voice integration, Infinite Cruise, Crawl Control, and fast-charging support.
Sub Rs 1 Lakh Segment

The EL-01 concept has already been unveiled, and the brand's primary aim is to make the platform more affordable for consumers. As a result, the pricing of this scooter could be under Rs 1 lakh, making it more comparable to ICE scooters in the same price range.
These scooters will be manufactured at Ather's new manufacturing facility in Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. We believe this new platform will not replace the current models but will instead sit alongside the existing lineup.
Ather Energy currently sells the family-focused Rizta electric scooter and the performance-focused 450X. There is also a premium sporty version called the 450 Apex, which is the flagship model in the lineup. The company is currently the third-largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, behind TVS and Bajaj.
