Ather Energy is developing a new platform aimed at mass-market buyers, focusing on delivering an affordable yet feature-rich electric scooter. Called the EL platform, recent spy sightings suggest that the upcoming models are already undergoing road testing in India.

Ather EL Platform: Things We Know So Far

Ather is expected to unveil its new range of scooters based on this platform during the 2026 festive season. Ahead of its festive season debut, here are the top five things we know about the upcoming EL platform.

1. Newly Designed Headlights

The upcoming EL-based model, likely to be called EL 01, is expected to feature handle-mounted headlights, resembling older-generation scooters. It will also get prominent LED DRLs positioned on the front apron, giving it a distinctive and modern design. This styling approach was previously showcased in the EL concept.

2. Platform Capability

The EL platform is designed to support multiple models, allowing Ather to expand its lineup. It is expected to accommodate various battery capacities, including the existing 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh packs. Additionally, a larger 5 kWh battery option could be introduced, potentially offering a range of over 200 km on a single charge.

3. Technology Focus

Ather scooters are known for their advanced technology, and the EL platform is expected to continue that trend. Likely features include a 7-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, Google-powered navigation, live location tracking, anti-theft systems, crawl modes, and other safety-focused functionalities.

4. Hardware and Safety

In terms of hardware, the new platform is expected to retain Ather's focus on performance and safety. The scooter could feature alloy wheels, telescopic front forks, a rear monoshock suspension, disc brakes with regenerative braking, and a belt-driven transmission system.

5. Launch Expectations

The production model is expected to be unveiled during the festive season later this year. As the platform targets budget-conscious buyers, pricing is likely to be aggressive, with expectations of a starting price below ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom).
