Aprilia SXR GT 125 & 175 Launched - Prices Start At Rs 1.11 Lakh

Aprilia has launched the SXR GT range in India, reviving the SXR maxi-scooter nameplate in 125cc and 175cc forms. Prices start at Rs 1.11 lakh for the Aprilia SXR GT 125 and go up to Rs 1.31 lakh for the Aprilia SXR GT 175, ex-showroom Delhi, and bookings are already open at dealerships nationwide.

The SXR 125 and SXR 160 were discontinued earlier this year without a formal announcement, leaving a gap in Aprilia's maxi-scooter line-up. The SXR GT twins fill that space, built on the same platform as the SR 125 and SR 175 launched last year.

Aprilia SXR GT 125 & 175: Engine & Performance

The SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.5cc single-cylinder engine that produces 10.6hp at 7,400rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,200rpm. The SXR GT 175 uses a larger 174.7cc air-cooled unit that makes 13.3hp at 7,200rpm and 14.1Nm at 6,000rpm. Both engines get a three-valve SOHC layout with electronic fuel injection and forced-air cooling, and are BS6 OBD-II Stage B compliant and E20 fuel-compatible.

Aprilia says the hp-e engines have been tuned for stronger power delivery, torque and acceleration while retaining everyday fuel efficiency. The 175 is aimed at riders who spend more time on faster roads, while the 125 targets buyers who want the SXR GT format without stepping into a bigger engine class.

Both scooters retain the overall silhouette of the outgoing SXR but switch to larger 14-inch wheels, up from 12 inches, for better stability and comfort on longer rides. The front continues to use Aprilia's Tripod LED headlamp, and the bodywork has grown slightly larger with more prominent graphics.

The SXR GT 175 comes with a 5-inch TFT display that supports Bluetooth connectivity for music and call management, along with turn-by-turn navigation and additional handlebar-mounted controls. It also gets a new exhaust end pipe with a heat shield. The SXR GT 125 makes do with a simpler 5-inch LCD instrument cluster.

Braking on both variants comes from a 220mm front disc and a 140mm rear drum, with the SXR GT 175 adding single-channel ABS and the SXR GT 125 relying on CBS. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork and a dual-effect hydraulic rear shock with five-step preload adjustment.

The SXR GT 125 will be offered in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White, while the SXR GT 175 gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green with additional footboard graphics drawn from Aprilia's GT range. An adjustable windscreen, crash guard, top box and a perimeter kit are listed as optional accessories for the range.

Sharing his thoughts on the new introduction, Diego Graffi, Chairman and MD, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd, said: "We see significant headroom for premiumisation in India's scooter market as customers increasingly seek products that deliver a richer and more differentiated ownership experience. The future of premium urban mobility will be defined not by getting from one point to another, but by how people experience the journey. Today's riders expect performance, comfort, technology and individuality in equal measure. The new Aprilia SXR GT range embodies that shift, bringing Aprilia's performance DNA and Italian design together with the versatility demanded by modern Indian lifestyles. Our 2-wheeler ambition is clear: to keep challenging established conventions and introduce products that expand what consumers can expect from the premium scooter segment."
