2026 KTM 390 Duke: What’s New? 349cc Engine, Lower Price & Key Changes

KTM has launched the new 2026 390 Duke and 390 Adventure range in India, now featuring a downsized engine. Positioned in the highly competitive mid-size segment, these motorcycles receive key updates aimed at improving accessibility while retaining their performance appeal.

2026 KTM 390 Duke: What's New

KTM has introduced a new sub-350cc engine primarily to adapt to the revised GST 2.0 tax structure. Motorcycles above 350cc now attract a steep 40% tax, while those below benefit from a reduced 18% GST. By bringing the engine capacity down to 349cc, KTM aims to offer more competitive pricing without significantly compromising performance.

New 349cc Engine

The biggest update is the new 349cc single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 41.5 PS at 8,600 rpm and 33.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper-assist clutch.

In comparison, the earlier 399cc engine delivered 46 PS and 39 Nm. This results in a drop of 4.5 PS and 5.5 Nm, but the overall performance remains strong enough for everyday riding as well as spirited use.

New Colour Options

While the overall design and components remain unchanged, KTM has introduced new colour options to enhance visual appeal. These include, Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue, Gun Metal Grey, Lower Seat Height for Wider Reach

To appeal to a broader range of riders, KTM has reduced the seat height from 820mm to 800mm. This change makes the motorcycle more accessible, especially for shorter riders, and addresses one of the most common concerns among buyers.

Significant Price Reduction

One of the biggest highlights is the aggressive price cut. The new 2026 KTM 390 Duke is priced at ₹2.77 lakh (ex-showroom), compared to ₹3.39 lakh for the previous model. This marks a price reduction of around ₹62,000, making the bike significantly more attractive in its segment.

Performance-Focused 399cc Range

Unlike some competitors who have fully transitioned to smaller engines, KTM will continue to offer its higher-performance 399cc lineup. These models will now be branded as the KTM 390 Duke R, KTM 390 Adventure R. They continue to attract enthusiasts who prioritise outright performance over pricing advantages.
