2026 KTM 390 Duke & Adventure Launched at ₹2.77 Lakh - Smaller Engine, Bigger Value
KTM has launched the new 2026 390 Duke and 390 Adventure with a smaller engine and more accessible pricing. This strategic move aims to balance cost efficiency, performance, and affordability. Notably, the previous 399cc versions will continue to be sold alongside these new models, offering buyers a wider choice.
2026 KTM 390 Series Launched (349cc)
The update comes in response to the new GST 2.0 regulations, which have significantly altered the tax structure in India. Motorcycles above 350cc now attract a steep 40% GST, while those below 350cc benefit from a reduced 18% tax bracket.

This shift has directly impacted manufacturers like Bajaj Auto and its partners, given their strong presence in the 350cc+ segment. To adapt, brands have begun downsizing engines to remain competitive on pricing.
Triumph Motorcycles was among the first to introduce a new 350cc lineup, followed by Bajaj Auto. KTM has now joined this trend with its revised sub-350cc 390 range. At the same time, KTM is retaining its performance-focused 399cc models, which will now be marketed as the "390 R" range, catering to enthusiasts who want higher performance.

Engine and Gearbox
Both motorcycles are powered by a new 349cc single-cylinder engine that produces 41.5 PS and 33.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Compared to the earlier 399cc engine, this marks a reduction of 4.5 PS and 3.5 Nm. However, the new setup is expected to deliver improved fuel efficiency while maintaining strong real-world performance and everyday usability.
Safety and Components
In terms of hardware, both bikes retain their core components, including a lightweight trellis frame, WP Apex upside-down forks, rear monoshock, 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The 390 Adventure features a more off-road-focused setup, with longer suspension travel, 19/17-inch wheels, dual-purpose tyres, and a similar braking system designed for mixed terrain riding.
Features and Technology
On the technology front, both motorcycles are equipped with a 5-inch TFT display offering smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and ride data. Riding modes include Street, Rain, and Track for the Duke, while the Adventure gets Street, Rain, and Off-road modes. Additional features include switchable traction control, cornering dual-channel ABS, and a bi-directional quickshifter.
