2026 Honda Transalp Gets E-Clutch - First ADV To Get Tech

The 2026 Honda Transalp brings the brand's E-Clutch system to the adventure segment, marking the first time the technology has been applied to an ADV. The update builds on Honda's recent rollout of the system on its road-focused motorcycles.

Honda's E-Clutch system allows the bike to manage clutch engagement automatically during starts and gear shifts. Riders continue to use the foot lever for shifting, while the system removes the need to operate the clutch lever in most situations.

The setup retains a conventional 6-speed manual gearbox. Unlike Honda's dual-clutch transmission (DCT), gear selection is not automated, and rider input remains central to the riding experience.
The clutch lever is still present and functional, allowing riders to override the system and use it like a standard manual motorcycle when needed.

In everyday use, the system reduces the need for repeated clutch input, particularly in stop-and-go traffic or low-speed riding conditions. It also helps prevent stalling during take-off, especially for less experienced riders. This positions the Transalp as a more accessible middleweight ADV without changing its core layout or riding format.

The introduction of E-Clutch on the Transalp reflects Honda's move to extend the technology beyond street motorcycles. It brings a convenience-focused feature into a segment that typically prioritises mechanical simplicity and rider control. No other changes have been detailed alongside the addition of the system, with the update centred entirely around the integration of E-Clutch.

"The adventure category's popularity continues because riders want motorcycles that can truly do it all," said Colin Miller, Manager of Experiential Marketing at American Honda. "With the addition of Honda E-Clutch to the Transalp, we're making that experience even more intuitive and approachable, while the CRF300L Rally remains an incredibly capable platform for riders who want lightweight agility with real-world touring range. Both models reflect our focus on expanding adventure for a broad spectrum of customers."
