Yamaha Aerox E, EC-06 Electric Scooters Unveiled - A New Electric Era
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha has unveiled two all-new electric scooters, the Aerox E and EC-06, marking the brand's formal entry into India's growing EV scooter market. Both models were showcased internationally and are now confirmed for an India launch in early 2026.
The Yamaha Aerox E is a performance-oriented scooter derived from the popular Aerox 155 platform. It features twin 3 kWh lithium-ion battery packs for a combined 6 kWh capacity, delivering a claimed range of 106 km on a single charge under Yamaha's internal testing cycle.

The scooter uses a mid-mounted motor producing 9.4 kW and 48 Nm, enabling strong low-end acceleration and city agility. Yamaha has equipped the Aerox E with three riding modes - Eco, Standard, and Power - along with a Boost mode that briefly increases output for overtakes and inclines.
The Aerox E features a belt-driven setup and liquid-cooling for optimal performance. The design closely mirrors its petrol-powered sibling, with aggressive lines, twin headlamps, and 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped in wide-profile tyres.

The Aerox E's suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks.. Braking is managed by disc brakes on both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS. Other highlights include the digital TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, ride analytics and navigation support.
Yamaha also unveiled the EC-06, a commuter-centric electric scooter aimed at efficiency and comfort. It sports a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery powering a 4.5 kW motor (6.7 kW peak), offering an IDC-rated range of 160 km per charge. Charging takes approximately nine hours via a standard home socket, with fast-charging capability expected in the Indian version.

The EC-06 rides on 14-inch alloy wheels with telescopic front suspension and twin rear shocks. It also offers a flat floorboard and upright seating for urban practicality. The EC-06 gets full-LED lighting, regenerative braking, a TFT instrument cluster, and Yamaha's Y-Connect app integration for real-time monitoring and diagnostics.
In terms of design, the EC-06 adopts a minimal and clean aesthetic compared to the sportier Aerox E. The emphasis is on everyday usability, storage space, and comfort rather than aggressive performance. Both models are expected to debut in India by January 2026, initially through Yamaha Blue Square dealerships in major metro cities before a phased rollout nationwide.
Yamaha has confirmed that both scooters will support over-the-air (OTA) updates and cloud-based data logging via the company's connected mobility platform. Local assembly plans are already underway at Yamaha's Kanchipuram facility, suggesting that localisation could reduce costs over time once production scales up.
Commenting on the announcement, Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said: "India is central to Yamaha's global growth strategy - a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models and the FZ-Rave mark a decisive step in strengthening our presence and aligning with India's evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation's transition towards sustainable transportation. Our focus remains on creating value in India - through products built for its diverse customers, supported by India's vision of Viksit Bharat and guided by Yamaha's global Environmental Plan 2050."
