Ultraviolette F77 Electric Motorcycle Receives Gen3 Firmware Performance Update

Ultraviolette has introduced a performance update for its F77 electric motorcycle, enhancing its capabilities with the Gen3 Powertrain Firmware. This update, known as Ballistic+, is available to all existing F77 owners at no extra charge. It aims to provide a sharper riding experience by improving torque response and throttle sensitivity.

The update is based on insights from over 8 million kilometres of real-world riding data. Ultraviolette gathered this information after launching the bikes in Europe, where higher average speeds demand more from the system. The company has worked on pushing the thermal limits of the motor and motor controller to extend performance duration and offer a stronger initial torque surge.

Enhanced Performance Through Software

The F77's Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) processes over 3,000 data points in real time. This data helps fine-tune the drivetrain, motor controller, and battery-management system. Ultraviolette claims that this optimisation allows the F77 to extract more performance purely through software improvements without altering hardware components.

Despite these enhancements, the peak output remains unchanged at 40hp and 100Nm. The battery capacity also stays the same: 7.1kWh for the Mach 2 and 10.3kWh for the Mach 2 Recon. The range figures are unaffected by this update, ensuring that riders can enjoy improved performance without sacrificing distance.

Backward Compatibility for All Variants

This Gen3 firmware update is backward compatible with all existing F77 variants. It will be rolled out to all current customers at no additional cost, ensuring that everyone can benefit from these advancements regardless of when they purchased their bike.

Ultraviolette refers to this update as Ballistic+, although the top mode displayed on the bike's TFT screen will continue to read 'Ballistic’. The company states that this update delivers a noticeably sharper and more engaging riding experience with quicker throttle response and a stronger initial power surge.

The company's commitment to enhancing user experience through software updates highlights its dedication to innovation in electric mobility. By leveraging extensive ride data and focusing on software optimisation, Ultraviolette aims to provide an improved riding experience for all F77 users.

This approach not only enhances performance but also ensures that existing customers can enjoy new features without needing hardware upgrades or replacements. As electric vehicles continue to evolve, such updates play a crucial role in maintaining competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
