TVS Starts Production Of BMW F 450 GS - 200,000th Bike Produced Together
TVS Motor Company has started manufacturing the new BMW F 450 GS at its Hosur facility, marking the next step of the TVS-BMW Motorrad partnership. The milestone coincides with the joint venture crossing 200,000 units produced globally since its inception over a decade ago.
The F 450 GS becomes the first mid-size adventure motorcycle from the collaboration to be manufactured in India for global markets. The model will be exported from Hosur and is expected to go on sale in multiple regions, with India positioned as the exclusive production hub.
Power for the BMW F 450 GS comes from a newly developed 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The engine uses a 135-degree crankpin offset and a counterbalancer to manage vibration and enhance refinement on long rides and mixed terrain.
The BMW F 450 GS sports upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear. BMW has designed a reinforced frame with a wider subframe and a revised exhaust routing that sits lower to accommodate panniers and improve luggage compatibility for touring needs.
Braking and rider-assistance systems include ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control and Engine Drag Torque Control. Optional equipment includes the Easy Ride Clutch system paired with Shift Assistant Pro, enabling clutch-less upshifts and downshifts for smoother operation across varying trail and road conditions.
The motorcycle's styling follows the GS family's design language, featuring a beak-style front end, protective body panels and ergonomics aimed at standing riding positions for off-road scenarios. The layout includes wide handlebars, long-travel suspension and a seat designed for extended touring comfort.
Production of the F 450 GS at Hosur underscores the evolving scope of the TVS-BMW collaboration, which began with smaller-capacity models and now extends into mid-size global motorcycles. BMW's reliance on the facility for worldwide supply indicates the strategic significance of India in the company's manufacturing network.
