TVS G310 R & G310 GS Models Discontinued In India: Continues With Apache Series
BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor have collaborated to produce 310cc motorcycles, including the BMW G310 R and G310 GS. Recently, the BMW G310 RR was also introduced. Following this trend, TVS launched its Apache RTR310 and Apache RR310, with the latter based on the BMW G310 RR. This partnership benefits both companies in developing components like engines, suspensions, and brakes.
BMW Motorrad has removed the G310 R and G310 GS from its official website, sparking speculation about their discontinuation in India. These models were BMW's most affordable options, with ex-showroom prices starting at ₹2.90 lakhs for the G310 R and ₹3.30 lakhs for the G310 GS. Despite their popularity, BMW Motorrad has reportedly stopped sending these bikes to dealerships since January.
Instead of upgrading the G310 GS to meet new OBD 2B emission standards, BMW plans to introduce the F450 GS adventure bike in India. This new model will feature a twin-cylinder engine capable of producing up to 47 bhp. The F450 GS is expected to launch before the end of 2025, offering a fresh option for adventure bike enthusiasts.
Although BMW Motorrad has ceased sales of its 310cc bikes, TVS Motor will continue offering its 310cc models. These bikes were among BMW's best-sellers in India before their discontinuation. The collaboration between TVS and BMW has allowed both companies to benefit from shared technology and resources.
BMW's decision not to upgrade the G310 R and G310 GS aligns with their strategy to introduce newer models like the F450 GS. This move reflects a shift towards more advanced offerings while maintaining a focus on performance and innovation in their motorcycle lineup.
The partnership between TVS Motor and BMW Motorrad has proven fruitful, resulting in successful models like the Apache RR310. As BMW transitions away from its 310cc range, TVS continues to capitalise on this collaboration by maintaining its presence in the market with competitive offerings.
