TVS & Bajaj Electric Vehicle Sales Surge In FY2025
In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, the electric vehicle (EV) market saw impressive sales from both TVS and Bajaj, highlighting their robust presence in the two-wheeler sector. Each company succeeded in selling over 2.5 lakh units of their flagship EV models, marking a significant milestone in their sales records.
TVS's iQube led the charge with approximately 2.73 lakh units sold, slightly ahead of Bajaj's Chetak, which posted sales of around 2.60 lakh units. This competition between the two major players resulted in a sales gap of just 13,000 units in FY2025, a substantial reduction from the 74,000 units difference observed in the previous fiscal year.

Sales Surge and Market Performance
The sales figures represent a remarkable year-on-year growth, with the iQube experiencing a 44 percent increase and the Chetak sales ballooning by 125 percent compared to FY2024. Specifically, TVS managed to push an additional 83,000 units into the market in FY2025, while Bajaj's sales boost was even more pronounced, with approximately 1.44 lakh more units sold than in the previous year. This surge in sales brought the competition closer than ever, with the gap between the iQube and Chetak narrowing to a mere 13,000 units by the end of FY2025.
The festive period of October 2024 proved to be a particularly successful time for both companies, as they recorded their highest monthly sales figures to date. During this time, around 29,000 iQubes and close to 30,000 Chetaks were sold, showcasing the fierce rivalry and evenly matched performance between the two brands. Throughout FY2025, the sales battle saw the iQube outselling the Chetak in May, July, August, September, January, and February, while the Chetak took the lead in the remaining six months.

Factors Influencing EV Sales Success
The success of TVS and Bajaj in the EV market can be attributed to several key factors. Both brands have cultivated a strong image and reputation, which have been instrumental in their sales achievements. Their ability to innovate, supported by robust in-house research and development capabilities, has allowed them to stay competitive and meet the evolving demands of consumers. Additionally, their reliable after-sales support has further cemented their position as leaders in the electric two-wheeler segment.
The growing interest in electric vehicles, coupled with the introduction of new products in the market, underscores the importance of brand strength, innovation, and customer service in driving sales. As the EV marketplace continues to expand, the strategies employed by TVS and Bajaj provide valuable insights into what contributes to success in this increasingly competitive sector.
