TVS Apache Series Achieves 4 Lakh Units Sales Milestone

The TVS Apache series has achieved remarkable success in the 150-200cc motorcycle segment, selling over 4 lakh units in the first 11 months of FY2025. This achievement marks the second time since FY2019 that the series has surpassed this milestone. The Apache range commands a significant 40 percent share of its segment, making it the bestselling motorcycle for TVS Motor Co.

TVS Motor Co. has experienced a strong fiscal year in 2025, with cumulative two-wheeler wholesale sales reaching 3.22 million units from April 2023 to February 2024. This represents an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year. While scooter sales have risen by 24 percent, accounting for a 51 percent share, motorcycle sales have seen a slight decline of 2 percent, holding a 34 percent share.

Apache's Market Dominance & Competitors

The Apache series' robust performance has helped mitigate a more significant decline in TVS' motorcycle segment. Without Apache's success, the sales drop would have been steeper than the current 2 percent decrease observed between April 2024 and February 2025. The Apache brand continues to be TVS's top-selling motorcycle in FY2025.

In FY2024, TVS Raider was the company's bestselling motorcycle with over 4.7 lakh units sold, surpassing Apache's sales of 3.7 lakh units. However, in FY2025, Apache reclaimed its position as the leader with over 4 lakh units sold in just the first eleven months, representing a significant increase of 17 percent compared to previous figures.

Market Trends & Shifts

The premium commuter segment of motorcycles (150-200cc) is under pressure from both lower and higher segments. The growth of the 125-150cc category by about 40 percent indicates a shift towards more fuel-efficient and affordable options among buyers. This trend suggests that consumers are prioritising cost-effectiveness over performance.

Despite this shift towards affordability, there is potential for change due to increased disposable income promised by the Union Budget. Meanwhile, higher segments like the 200-250cc and 250-350cc categories have also gained popularity, growing by approximately 16 percent and 4 percent respectively.

Future Outlook for TVS Apache

With March wholesales yet to be counted, TVS is expected to achieve total sales of around 4.40 lakh to 4.45 lakh Apaches in FY2025. Although this figure will fall short of the record set in FY2019, it still highlights Apache's continued dominance as TVS's bestselling motorcycle.

The competition within this segment remains fierce with India Yamaha Motor trailing behind Apache's commanding market share. Other manufacturers like Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Hero MotoCorp, and Suzuki Motorcycle India have all seen their sales decline year-on-year according to data sourced from SIAM.

The ongoing demand for TVS mopeds also contributes positively to overall two-wheeler sales with an increase of six percent year-on-year accounting for nearly fourteen point five percent share within total sales figures reported by TVS Motor Co.
