Triumph Trident 800 Unveiled With New 798cc Triple-Cylinder Engine - Deliveries To Start In 2026

British bikemaker Triumph has unveiled the Trident 800, expanding its roadster portfolio with an all-new model positioned above the Trident 660. The Triumph Trident 800 debuts a fresh engine platform, reworked chassis, and updated electronics developed under Triumph's next-generation middleweight programme.

The new Triumph Trident 800 is powered by a 798cc, liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine producing 114bhp at 10,750rpm and 85Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. The engine features forged aluminium pistons, new cam profiles, and an updated ride-by-wire throttle system for cleaner combustion and improved response.

The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox with Triumph Shift Assist, which enables clutchless up- and downshifts. The gearbox also incorporates a slip-and-assist clutch to manage back-torque during aggressive deceleration and features revised primary and final drive ratios, improving mid-range acceleration compared to the Trident 660.

The Trident 800 uses a new tubular steel frame that increases torsional rigidity while reducing overall weight. The wheelbase, rake, and trail have been adjusted for sharper steering geometry, bringing improved corner entry and mid-corner stability in both urban and highway conditions.

The Trident 800's front suspension is handled by 41mm Showa upside-down forks with full adjustability for preload, rebound, and compression. The rear features a Showa monoshock with remote preload adjustment and progressive linkage for consistent damping under load transitions.

Braking hardware on the Triumph Trident 800 consists of dual 310mm floating front discs with radial-mounted four-piston callipers and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper. The Trident 800 runs on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels with 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres. Kerb weight stands at 198kg, with a 52/48 front-to-rear weight distribution and the seat height is set at 810mm.

The electronics package on the new Trident 800 includes cornering traction control, cornering ABS, and three selectable ride modes-Road, Sport, and Rain. Each mode calibrates throttle maps and intervention levels, with the traction system independently adjustable through the display interface.

The Trident 800 sports a 3.5-inch full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity via the My Triumph appwhich allows for turn-by-turn navigation, media control, and call notifications. The display also allows access to ride data, system status, and mode selection.

Triumph will begin global deliveries of the Trident 800 in early 2026. Production will initially serve European and North American markets. The Triumph Trident 800 is expected to be locally assembled from CKD kits when it comes to India.
