Triumph Tracker 400 Launched In Its Home Market - Flat Tracker Unlikely To Come To India

Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Triumph Tracker 400 in the United Kingdom for £5,745.00 (₹ 6.94 lakh), adding a new flat-track-inspired model to its expanding 400 cc motorcycle range. The Triumph Tracker 400 is currently available in the UK and is unlikely to be launched in India.

The Triumph Tracker 400 is designed as a street-oriented motorcycle with styling cues taken from flat-track racers. The bike adopts a stripped-back design theme with number boards, upright ergonomics and minimalist bodywork that reflects its road-focused intent.

Powering the Triumph Tracker 400 is a liquid-cooled single-cylinder TR-Series engine displacing around 398 cc, tuned to produce 41.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 37.5Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm, which is the same tune as the Thruxton 400. This engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox aided by an assist and slipper clutch.

The chassis and suspension setup are borrowed from the Triumph Speed 400. The Tracker 400 features a hybrid perimeter steel frame suspended off a 43 mm inverted USD fork at the front, while the rear uses a preload-adjustable monoshock to help with the rough stuff.Dual-channel ABS and disc brakes at both ends handle the braking duties. The new Triumph Tracker 400 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with road-biased knobby tyres.

Triumph Tracker 400

Like its other 400cc siblings, the all-new Triumph Tracker features a full LED lighting setup (headlight, taillight and indicators), semi-digital instrument pod and ride-by-wire tech

Despite its European debut and the fact that the bike is manufactured in India at Bajaj's Chakan facility, Triumph is unlikely to introduce the new Tracker 400 in the Indian market. This is most likely due to the new GST norms, which tax bikes with an engine over 350cc at 40%. However, with Bajaj working on 350cc versions of the current 400cc Triumph lineup for India, the new Tracker may make its way onto our roads with the smaller engine, provided there is enough demand for the flat-track-inspired bike.
