Triumph Thruxton 400 Launched At Rs 2,74,137 - British Cafe Racer For The Masses
British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has launched the Thruxton 400 in India. The Triumph Thruxton 400 cafe racer is priced at Rs 2,74,137 (ex-showroom).
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is the fifth iteration of the British marque's 400 series after the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X and Scrambler 400 XC and it sits between the Scrambler X and XC in terms of its pricing.
Triumph Thruxton 400 - Design & Features
The Triumph Thruxton 400 adopts the classic British cafe racer design, which its larger siblings are known for. This can be seen with the cafe-racer style fairing with an integrated windscreen at the front.
Other design highlights of the Triumph Thruxton 400 include clip-on handlebars, a scooped-out fuel tank, repositioned footpegs, wide seat with an angled profile for that forward leaned posture, and a rather unique tail section with the rear seat cowl, short rear fender and small taillight. The bike also features dual-tone paint schemes.
The Triumph Thruxton comes packed with a host of features including LED lighting, dual‑channel ABS, traction control, semi‑digital instrument cluster, and a USB charging port.
Triumph Thruxton 400 - The Mechanical Bits
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is powered by a familiar 398cc, liquid‑cooled, single cylinder TR-series engine. However, the engine has been retuned for the Thruxton 400 so that it now produces 41.42bhp (around 2bhp more than the other variants). The torque output remains the same at 37.5Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties on the Triumph Thruxton 400 are taken care of by a USD front fork and a monoshock at the rear. The Thruxton 400 sports a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear that help bring it to a quick stop. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 110/70(front) and 150/60(rear) tyres.
The Thruxton 400 offers the shortest wheelbase among Triumph's 400cc bikes at 1,376mm and the lowest seat height at 795mm. The Thruxton 400 weighs in at 183kg, offers 158mm of ground clearance and sports a 13-litre fuel tank.
