Triumph Motorcycles To Hike Prices From January 2026

British motorcycle brand Triumph is set to increase the prices of its 400cc motorcycles starting in January 2026. Under the new GST 2.0 regime, attract a higher 40% GST tax on motorcycles with engine capacities above 350cc. As a result, prices are likely to increase from next year. Since Triumph's entry-level models are 400cc motorcycles, they fall under the higher tax slab and will be directly affected.

Triumph Motorcycles Set to Hike Prices

Triumph Motorcycles is selling two-wheelers in India in collaboration with Bajaj Auto, and the partnership has grown steadily. The companies even introduced a 400cc Triumph motorcycle lineup in India, which was well-received by consumers.

But as they were starting to gain market share, the Government's new GST 2.0 tax structure came as a surprise. Under this revised GST framework, two-wheelers with engine capacities below 350cc now enjoy a reduced GST rate of 18%, from the earlier 28% tax, while bikes in the above 350cc segment are taxed at a higher 40% slab.

Triumph was directly affected by this new tax scheme because its most affordable models, the 400cc lineup, fall under the higher GST category. However, the brand has decided not to increase motorcycle prices until the end of 2025. From January 1, 2026, Triumph will revise its base prices in accordance with the GST 2.0 structure to reduce the impact and prevent losses.

Their 400cc models include Triumph Speed 400, Speed T4, Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400XC, and Thruxton 400. Triumph has also encouraged buyers to take advantage of current lower prices and complete their purchases before the end of this year to avoid paying the higher rate.

Bajaj, KTM, and Triumph are reportedly planning to develop a new motorcycle under 350cc to avoid the higher GST slab. This new sub-350cc engine could be introduced across all three brands with different names and is expected to arrive by mid-2026. Triumph has not fully revealed the exact percentage of the hike, but the new revised prices are likely to be announced by early January 2026.
