Toyota Corolla Concept Unveiled At Japan Mobility Show - Radical Redesign, Multiple Powertrains
Toyota has unveiled the new Corolla concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, previewing the next generation of the world's best-selling car. The concept introduces a bold new design language, reworked proportions, and a re-engineered platform that supports multiple powertrain options.
The Toyota Corolla Concept presents a sedan-like silhouette with a dramatically lower windscreen base and a stretched glasshouse, enhancing forward visibility and aerodynamic efficiency. The side windows sit deeper within the bodyline, while the roofline tapers neatly into a short rear deck finished with an integrated ducktail spoiler.

At the front of the Corolla Concept, a full-width LED light bar connects the headlamps, forming a continuous signature that defines the fascia. The flush door handles and blacked-out pillars lend the car a seamless visual flow. The rear carries a similar lighting treatment, featuring a connected tail-lamp arrangement that matches the minimalist surface design.
Inside, the Corolla concept focuses on simplicity and modernity. The cabin features two large digital displays positioned symmetrically for the driver and passenger, while a compact floating centre console hosts the primary controls.

The interior architecture uses a low scuttle and high seating to improve visibility and comfort. The instrument panel stretches horizontally, and the dashboard's layering integrates the vents, touch surfaces, and trim elements into a unified plane.
Built on a new flexible architecture, the next-generation Corolla is engineered to accommodate four powertrains - internal combustion, strong hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric. This modular approach ensures that every version maintains identical cabin and luggage dimensions, regardless of the propulsion system selected.

The chassis features revised suspension geometry and a strengthened body structure, optimised for electric packaging and hybrid integration. Toyota has prioritised weight distribution and rigidity to improve handling, making the car more stable and responsive across different powertrains.
The Corolla Concept also integrates advanced driver-assistance systems, with enhanced safety sensors and over-the-air software updates. The concept showcases Toyota's latest electronic architecture, preparing the next-generation Corolla for future connectivity and semi-autonomous driving applications.

The current Corolla, spanning twelve generations and more than 50 million units sold, remains the world's most popular passenger car. The new design marks a turning point for the Corolla's evolution, redefining its visual character while preserving the core appeal that has sustained its global success for over five decades.
