KTM 390 Enduro R: Top 5 Things You Need To Know
The KTM 390 Enduro R has officially arrived in India, offering a purpose-built machine for those who crave trails, dirt roads, and adventure beyond the tarmac. Recently, Bajaj Auto absorbed the cost impact of the increased GST rates for 350cc-plus motorcycles, keeping the new 390 Enduro R competitively priced at Rs 3,39,227 (ex-showroom). Here are the 5 key things you need to know before buying this new adventure-ready motorcycle.
1. Engine & Performance
Powering the 390 Enduro R is the same 398.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that we've seen on the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure. However, KTM has revised the gearing with a 48-tooth rear sprocket, aimed at improving low-end torque delivery - a crucial factor when tackling off-road terrain. The engine produces 46hp at 8,500rpm and 39Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm, ensuring plenty of grunt for both trail riding and spirited road use.

2. Compact Fuel Tank
The bike features a 9-litre fuel tank, which might seem small by touring standards. However, it's designed to keep weight centralised and manageable for trail riding. While it may limit long-distance touring range, it's ideal for off-road adventures where agility matters more than range.
3. India-Spec vs International-Spec Differences
While the 390 Enduro R sold in India is nearly identical to the international version, there are a few key changes. The global model features 230mm of suspension travel at both ends, while the India-spec variant gets 200mm at the front and 205mm at the rear, similar to the 390 Adventure. This results in a seat height of 860mm (compared to 890mm internationally), making it more accessible to Indian riders. Interestingly, the international-spec version can still be ordered in India on request.

4. Weight & Components
The kerb weight of the India-spec 390 Enduro R stands at 177kg, including standard accessories like grab rails, crash bars, and a saree guard. Riders who remove these components for trail use can shave off around 11kg, reducing the weight to roughly 166kg - impressive for a bike in this segment.
5. Equipment & Features
KTM has equipped the Enduro R with a compact and bright TFT display, ensuring clear visibility even under harsh sunlight. The bike offers two riding modes, a USB Type-C charging port, adjustable levers, and an adjustable handlebar clamp. It also includes a bi-directional quickshifter and a dedicated ABS-off button, allowing riders to easily disable rear ABS when riding off-road.
DriveSpark Thinks
The KTM 390 Enduro R blends performance, agility, and practical design into a package made for India's diverse terrain. It's not just another ADV - it's a compact trail weapon that invites you to explore beyond the horizon.
