Top 3 125cc Motorcycles For New Riders: Stylish Yet Frugal Options Compared
The TVS Raider 125 has quietly set fire to the once-sleeping 125cc motorcycle segment in India. The model's success has pushed two new entrants—the Hero Xtreme 125R and the Honda CB125 Hornet.
These three 125cc motorcycles not only offer frugal powertrain options but are wrapped in a stylish body that can even shame many motorcycles from the upper segment. That said, together these three motorcycles provide ideal options for any young rider in India, and here's a detailed look at them.

TVS Raider 125
The TVS Raider 125 is the more established product among these three models. It is also the least aggressive-looking, and we expect this design trait to have more refined ageing.
Powering the TVS Raider 125 is a 124.8cc engine with 11.2hp at 7,500rpm, and 11.2Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. With a kerb weight of just 123kg, the TVS Raider 125 is also very light, making it a good choice for new riders.
TVS Raider 125 is also the most affordable of the group with a starting price of just Rs 87,375, courtesy of its long variant list.
Hero Xtreme 125R
If this motorcycle is not announced as Xtreme 125R, we would have assumed it to be the new Xtreme 200 or 250. Nothing about the Xtreme 125R says it is a 125cc motorcycle, and we expect this trait to be a favourite among college students.
The Hero Xtreme 125R is powered by a 124.7cc engine, dishing out 11.4hp at 8,250rpm, and 10.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. However, at 136kg, the Hero Xtreme 125R is a heavier motorcycle than the TVS Raider 125.
The non-ABS version of the Hero Xtreme 125R is the least expensive variant, and it is priced at Rs 98,425 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Honda CB125 Hornet
For those who couldn't afford the Yamaha MT-15, the Honda CB125 would be a perfect pick. Also, the existence of USD forks makes the Honda CB125 Hornet look like a much more premium motorcycle than it actually is.
The Honda CB125 Hornet uses a 123.94cc engine with 11hp at 7,500rpm and 11.2Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Like the TVS Raider 125, the CB125 Hornet is also very light, tipping scales at just 124kg.
At Rs 1.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Honda CB125 Hornet is the most expensive model. However, it is worth noting that this motorcycle is available in just 1 variant.
