Royal Enfield ‘Vita’ and ‘Carolina Reaper’ Custom Hot Rods Revealed - When Japanese Modders Go Big

Royal Enfield has revealed two custom motorcycles named Vita and Carolina Reaper at the 2025 Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show in Japan. The one-off builds are based on the Classic 650 and Guerrilla 450, and were created in collaboration with Japanese custom workshops as part of the brand's global custom programme.

The Vita custom is based on the Royal Enfield Classic 650 and was built by Custom Works Zon, a Shiga-based workshop led by Yuichi Yoshizawa and Yoshikazu Ueda. The motorcycle is designed as a minimalist, handcrafted custom with a strong emphasis on materials and traditional fabrication techniques.

Vita uses a bespoke hardtail steel frame and a girder-style front fork, departing significantly from the stock Classic 650 chassis. The motorcycle runs on large-diameter wheels and features exposed mechanical components, giving it a raw, stripped-back appearance.

The bodywork combines hand-formed aluminium panels with wooden inserts, a key visual highlight of the build. A custom aluminium fuel reservoir has been fabricated and positioned under the seat, while the area traditionally occupied by the fuel tank is taken up by a bespoke enclosure housing key electronic components. Also incorporated into this space is a sculpted aluminium element shaped to resemble a bird in flight, serving as a distinctive visual feature of the build.

The standout feature of the Vita is its twin-engine configuration, which uses two 648cc parallel-twin engines from the Classic 650 mounted in a staggered arrangement. The front engine's crankshaft is extended using a custom-fabricated shaft, which is then connected to the second engine through a primary gear and chain system, mechanically linking both motors into a single drivetrain. This dual-engine layout is mounted within the custom frame and paired with a bespoke exhaust system.

The second custom, Carolina Reaper, is based on the Guerrilla 450 and was created by Cheetah Custom Cycles, a Tokyo-based workshop headed by Toshiyuki Osawa. The motorcycle follows a flat-track-inspired design theme, drawing influence from American dirt-track racers.

The Royal Enfield Carolina Reaper features a compact stance with minimal bodywork, a slim fuel tank, side number plates and a shortened rear section. A high-mounted exhaust, wide handlebars and flat-track style wheels define its overall silhouette. The design highlights agility and simplicity while retaining the core proportions of the Guerrilla 450 platform.

The 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, aluminium frame and electronics package remain unchanged from the production Guerrilla 450. The motorcycle is intended as a styling and design exercise, showing how the platform can be adapted visually without altering its mechanical foundation.
