Royal Enfield Discontinues Scram 411; Introduces The Scram 440
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 has been officially discontinued in India. This decision follows the introduction of the new Scram 440, which is priced at Rs 2.08 lakh ex-showroom. The removal of the Scram 411 from the company's website confirms its discontinuation.
The Scram 411 was derived from the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411, sharing its engine and chassis. However, it featured smaller wire-spoke wheels and less bodywork, making it lighter than its adventure sibling. This design made it suitable for urban riding with some off-road capability.
New Features of the Scram 440
The newly launched Royal Enfield Scram 440 addresses previous limitations by offering a larger engine and more power. It also includes a six-speed gearbox, enhancing performance on highways where the Scram 411's five-speed gearbox fell short.
Buyers can choose between wire-spoke rims with tube-type tyres or alloy wheels with tubeless tyres for the Scram 440. This flexibility adds to its appeal among motorcycle enthusiasts looking for varied riding experiences.
Price Comparison and Market Impact
The price difference between the new Scram 440 and the discontinued Scram 411 is minimal, at just Rs 2,000. Given this small gap, Royal Enfield's decision to replace the older model with an upgraded version seems logical.
The Scram 411 was equipped with a 411cc engine producing 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and torque of 32Nm at 4,250rpm. Despite being torquey and responsive, its lack of a sixth gear was noticeable during high-speed rides.
