Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Vs Triumph Speed T4: GST 2.0 Price Comparison
With the rollout of GST 2.0, motorcycles below 350cc now attract an 18 percent tax rate - down from the previous 28 percent - while those above 350cc are taxed at 40 percent. This change has directly influenced the prices of some of India's most popular mid-segment motorcycles.
In this comparison, we take a look at two bikes that fall on either side of this new tax divide - the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the Triumph Speed T4. Both appeal to riders looking for their first big motorcycle or a stylish upgrade, but the new GST regime has shifted the value equation between them.

Royal Enfield Hunter 350: Prices Drop By Up To Rs 15,000
The 2025 Royal Enfield Hunter 350, launched earlier this year, was originally priced between Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1.82 lakh. With the revised GST rates, Royal Enfield has passed on the full tax benefit to customers, bringing prices down to Rs 1.38 lakh-1.67 lakh - a reduction of Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 depending on the variant.
The Hunter 350 recently received key updates, including a new LED headlight, revised rear suspension setup, and the addition of a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. Power continues to come from the familiar 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 20.4hp and 27Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Triumph Speed T4: Price Reduced Despite Higher Tax Bracket
In contrast, the Triumph Speed T4, which falls under the above-350cc category, should have seen a price hike due to the 40 percent GST rate. However, Bajaj Auto and Triumph have decided to absorb the additional tax burden and have even reduced the T4's price. It now starts at Rs 1.93 lakh, compared to its earlier range of Rs 1.99 lakh-2.07 lakh.
The Speed T4 shares its platform with the Speed 400 but uses cost-effective hardware to maintain affordability. It features conventional telescopic forks instead of USD units, runs on bias-ply tyres, and misses out on traction control. Power comes from a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine - the same as the Speed 400's - but tuned slightly lower to deliver 31hp and 36Nm.
Hunter 350 Vs Speed T4: Price Comparison
Even after the tax revision, the Triumph Speed T4 remains the pricier option, but its performance edge is undeniable. The base Hunter 350 undercuts the Speed T4 by Rs 55,000, while the top-spec Hunter variant still comes in Rs 26,000 cheaper.
DriveSpark Thinks
However, the Hunter's base trim is fairly stripped down, lacking alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, making the higher variants better value for money. On the other hand, the Speed T4 justifies its premium with a more powerful, liquid-cooled engine and a sportier riding experience - positioning it as a strong step-up option for enthusiasts ready to move beyond the 350cc class.
