Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 Electric Motorcycle Spotted Testing in Chennai

Royal Enfield has stepped closer to its electric future with the sighting of yet another EV mule in Chennai. The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 was seen navigating Chennai's roads under heavy camouflage by Rushlane, revealing several important details about the company's first electric motorcycle.

The Flying Flea C6 is expected to be the first of many EVs planned by Royal Enfield as it looks to push into the EV market. Named after the lightweight motorcycles used by British troops during World War II, the Flying Flea C6 also takes its design inspiration from those lightweight military bikes.

The Flying Flea C6 prototype featured a round headlamp, upright handlebars, girder forks and mid-set footpegs. The frame of the C6's prototype is rather distinct and looks identical to the one seen on the show bike Royal Enfield revealed last year at EICMA in Milan.

The motor appears to be mid-mounted, placed within the frame, driving the rear wheel through a belt system. A large battery pack can be seen fixed inside the cradle of the frame. The casing of the battery pack had visible vents, suggesting air cooling for temperature management.

The prototype also featured alloy wheels fitted with road-focused tyres. Braking uties on the C6 prototype was managed by disc brakes at both ends. Wheel sizes appeared larger than the 17-inch units used across Royal Enfield's mid-capacity motorcycles and could end up being 19-inch units.

A compact digital display was positioned behind the front cowl. The screen was not visible in detail, but as an EV, the cluster is expected to show key data such as battery level, range, charging status, and possibly ride modes when the Flying Flea C6 hits the roads.

Royal Enfield has previously confirmed its intent to launch an electric motorcycle by 2026. The Flying Flea C6 prototype is believed to be among the first to emerge from the brand's dedicated EV programme, which is expected to support multiple models across different segments in future.

The test mule's appearance on public roads marks an important stage in its development. Transitioning from high altitude testing to everyday city traffic conditions means that the day that Royal Enfield sends its EV project onto the roads for everyday customers to experience is not too far away.
