Raptee.HV Sets New Standards In Electric Mobility: Earns ARAI Certification
Raptee.HV, a pioneer in electric motorcycle technology in India, has received the prestigious ARAI certification for its T30 model, marking a significant achievement as India's first electric two-wheeler featuring High Voltage (HV) technology.
This technology, akin to that used in electric cars, positions the T30 uniquely in the market, being the only electric motorcycle compatible with the CCS2 DC Fast charging standards. ARAI, the Automotive Research Association of India, represents the pinnacle of automobile certification in the country, with its endorsement required for any vehicle to be deemed road-legal and eligible for registration.

Since its inception in 2019, Raptee.HV has been committed to leading the shift towards electric mobility by integrating advanced electric car technologies into two-wheelers. This innovation aims to provide bike enthusiasts in India and around the world with cutting-edge electric motorcycles at an optimized price. The company's success in achieving ARAI certification is a testament to its dedication and hard work over the past six years.
Raptee.HV's Vision and Milestones
Dinesh Arjun, CEO & Co-Founder of Raptee.HV, expressed his company's ambition to set new standards in the motorcycle ecosystem through the adoption of High Voltage technology. He emphasized the extensive effort involved in developing a completely new architecture, which included creating performance, safety, and validation standards, as well as forming partnerships within the supplier ecosystem. Arjun proudly stated, "While it has taken us around 6 years to build the HV architecture for our first motorcycle, our platforms are now in place to support the launch of a new motorcycle every 12 months hereon." This innovative approach is expected to significantly influence the future of motorcycle manufacturing and use.
The T30 represents Raptee.HV's first foray into the high voltage lineup. It promises a superior riding experience compared to a 300cc Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) motorcycle, thanks to its HV tech powertrain, enhanced vehicle ride dynamics, and leading software features. A noteworthy accomplishment for Raptee.HV has been achieving price parity with 300cc ICE motorcycles at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.39 lakhs. This makes the T30 more affordable due to EV road tax subsidies and overall cost of ownership savings.
Raptee.HV's Competitive Edge in the Market
Jayapradeep Vasudevan, CBO at Raptee.HV, highlighted the ARAI certification as a validation of the team's dedication over the last six years. This milestone is particularly significant for Raptee.HV, as it recognizes the development of a new High Voltage technology tailored for electric two-wheelers. The T30 not only offers an enhanced riding experience but also addresses major concerns in the EV industry such as reliability and charging anxiety. Vasudevan announced, "We would be starting the deliveries in Chennai and Bangalore and further expand to other markets in a phased manner."
The T30 stands out by offering unparalleled charging convenience, both at home and on the go, enabled by its HV technology and compatibility with the CCS2 charging standard. This makes it the first and only two-wheeler that can tap into India's growing DC car charging infrastructure, which boasts over 22,000 charging points. Additionally, the motorcycle's HV technology facilitates fast in-house charging, boasts the most potent onboard charger, and comes with the lightest and most portable external charging cable in the industry.
Future Prospects and Expansion Plans
With its innovative technology, the T30 is set to revolutionize the Indian motorcycle market and potentially make a significant impact globally. The motorcycle's reliability is further bolstered by an 8-year standard battery warranty, matching the current standard for electric cars. Following a successful funding round in October 2023, led by Blue Hill Capital and Artha 99, among others, Raptee.HV is now aiming to raise $19 million. This funding will support its working capital needs and fuel an aggressive expansion strategy.
Since its launch in October 2024, Raptee.HV has achieved another milestone with over 8000 registrations. These numbers are crucial for the company as it strives to meet its first-year sales target of $25M. This growing interest in Raptee.HV's products underscores the market's readiness for innovative electric two-wheelers, setting the stage for a new era in motorcycle riding.
DriveSpark Thinks
Raptee.HV's achievements and future plans mark a significant shift in the electric two-wheeler market, not just in India but potentially on a global scale. With its advanced technology, competitive pricing, and strategic expansion, Raptee.HV is well-positioned to lead the transition towards electric mobility in the two-wheeler segment.
