Production-Spec Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Spotted - Ready For Launch?

Royal Enfield's Himalayan electric, internally called the Him-E, is moving closer to production. Camouflaged units of the Him E were recently seen during high-altitude test runs in Ladakh, ridden by senior company officials.

The latest prototypes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, snapped and ridden by Instagram user xplorearth.shimla, appear to be far more refined and closer to showroom readiness.

The images of these near-production ready prototypes of the electric Himalayan show that the electric ADV is currently undergoing some final testing. Replying to one of the comments on his posts, the xplorearth.shimla confirmed that Royal Enfield was seeking feedback from riders with regards to the Him E.

The design of the Himalayan Electric sticks to the familiar design profile of the ADV. Up front a round LED headlamp sits behind a small windscreen, while slim tank shrouds and metal guards continue to define the profile. The bodywork carries the Royal Enfield branding.

The prototypes were also seen sporting Gold-spoked alloy wheels wrapped in off-road-ready Bridgestone Battlax tyres. Suspension duties appear to be handled by upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, both of which are adjustable. Braking is provided by single discs at both ends.

The chassis of the Him E uses a mix of materials, with aluminium components supporting the motor and battery pack as stressed members of the frame. The battery housing itself is aluminium. The overall stance, upright ergonomics, and single-piece seat mirror the design of the petrol-powered Himalayan.

Closer inspection reveals high-end kit. Fully adjustable Ohlins rear shocks and premium front forks point to serious off-road ability. A rally-style dash tower is also present, featuring an ECUMASTER unit.

Early reports suggest the Him-E could use a 14 kWh battery pack paired with a motor producing close to 100 horsepower. If accurate, this would make it the most powerful Royal Enfield ever built. The expected riding range of the Himalayan Electric is around 200 to 250 kilometres on a single charge.

Royal Enfield hasn't announced any official timeline yet for the launch of the Himlayan Electric. However, some rumours suggest that we could see the Himalyan Electric as early as later this year, with both the EICMA show and Royal Enfield's own Motoverse event happening in November touted as the venues for our first glimpse at the machine.
